RACE INFORMATION
Welcome to the Bedford 6. Enclosed is a map showing you how to get to
the Race Headquarters and changing rooms at Mark Rutherford School and
Car Park at the school or nearby Bedford Athletic RU Club, Wentworth
Drive.
Please DO NOT PARK in Wentworth Drive. The race headquarters will be
open from 18.00. The late entries desk will be situated at Mark Rutherford
School. Male and female changing rooms, showers and toilets will be available.
The six mile road race starts in the car park at Mowsbury Park, off
Kimbolton Road (B660) which is a pleasant ¾ mile walk / jog across the park
from the changing rooms. Please allow enough time to get to the start.
The course is the same as last year with the finish just past the tennis courts in
Wentworth Drive. The course has been accurately measured and there will be
mile markers. Runners must keep on the left side of the road or on the footpath
where designated at all times. There will be marshals at all road junctions.
There is a steep climb at 3½ miles. On the descent it is important that you
run in single file, keeping as far to the left as possible. At 4¾ miles you
enter Wentworth Drive for the second time. There will be a 500m loop through
Mowsbury Park before returning to Wentworth Drive and continuing to the
finish where water will be available. St John Ambulance will be in attendance
throughout the race should first aid be required.
The Bedford 6 is part of the East Midlands Grand Prix Series 2008. Those
competitors who have received their numbers in a previous series race must pay
the fee for the Bedford 6 at the registration at Mark Rutherford School
before they complete. Failure to do so will result in their race being made void.
If you have completed in a previous series race during 2008, have your
number with you and if you have paid for the Bedford 6 then there is no
need for you to report to registration.
