Job Title: Deskside Support Technician

Exempt / Non-Exempt: Exempt

Job Description:
Working with other members of Yahoo!'s Information Systems support staff in providing timely and quality
service to Yahoo!'s internal user community.

Responsibilities:
    This person will be on a team who supports nationwide build/deployment of new hire
      computers/upgrades and RMA/warranty repairs of computers.
    Unpacking pallets/boxes of desktop and laptop computers in large quantities
    Shipping/receiving desktops/laptops
    Imaging variety of machines in batches Linux, Windows XP, Windows 7, different flavors of
      Leopard
    Creating and enabling/disabling accounts working within the Active Directory on Windows servers
    Creating and enabling/disabling e-mail accounts on Exchange 2007 server
    Creating, updating and resolving requests via Siebel Ticketing system
    Troubleshooting hardware for issues and documenting them
    Driving to local campuses for inventory pickups and deliveries
    Configuring user accounts and/or installing software on MS Windows XP & 7, RHEL5 Linux and
      Apple OS X
    Managing Asset inventory in database
    Other duties include providing telephone support, remote control of client machines, electronic
      delivery of software installation, troubleshooting problems, imaging, creating accounts, and
      assisting in developing and refining departmental support processes and procedures

Required Skills/Experience:
    Flexibility in work schedule – must be able to work different shifts and/or overtime when
       necessary
    Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
    Ability to prioritize daily tasks and plan ahead
    PC hardware knowledge and troubleshooting skills required
    Must be organized and have strong communication skills
    Ability to follow directions, processes and procedures is a must
    Ability to work alone in some cases and being a self-motivator
    Ability to stand for long periods of time
    Ability to use a pallet jack
    Valid CA driver’s license

Desired Skills/Experience:
    A bachelor's degree in IS or equivalent
    Comptia A+ and/or 2+ years of employee support experience is preferred
    Demonstrated track record of customer service
    Demonstrated success with verbal and written skills
    Ability to adapt to change quickly and make quick decisions
    A strong background with the Windows product suite
    Windows Active Directory
    Mac OS X
    RHEL
