Object: An easier, faster, anduseful method is developed to monitor the induction of
ovulation in women with Infertility. This method will help to diagnose the endocrine
dysfunction and to design a therapeutic plan for individual using integrated TCM and WM.
Methods: The basic levels of serum FSH, LH, E2, T and PRL were determined in infertile
patients. Endocrine dysfunction was evaluated by various parameters, including B-scan,
urine LH, CS, and BBT. Tonify Kideny herbs were used in all 32 patients as the first line
treatment .The herbs combined with CC, HCG, HMG ,or BMT will be used for treatment
if patients remained anovulation and did not conceive. Results: The results were confirmed
by biphasic BBT charts from 9 cases of all patients .Smaller ovulations (FD <16mm) were
found in 6 cases of these patients. The results were confirmed by monophasic BBT charts
in the 23 cases of the 32 patients, among both elevated T levels in the 6 cases of the 23
patients and elevated PRL levels in the other 2 patients. After treatment ,various
parameters during preovulation phase, such as B-scan, urine LH and CS were within
normal range in all 32 conceived women. Pregnant rate is 59.35% when the herbs were
used alone or in combination with HCG , while pregnant rate is 40.65% when the herbs
were used in combination with CC, HMG or BCT. The pregnant rate is 68.75% after 1-2
treatment cycles, and increases to 90 % after 3 treatment cycles. Conclusion: Endocrine
dysfunction is the cause of disorder in both follicular development and ovulation in women
with infertility. Multiple parameters car be used clinically to monitor the induction of
ovulation, which lead to a treatment plan for individual patient using integrated TCM and
WM. Such a method dramatically improves the efficacy of ovulation , conception and
pregnancy.
