or gelding 4 yrs old & over exceeding 148cms (14.2hh) & not exceeding 158cms
(15.2hh). Riders to have attained their 16th birthday by 1st January 2007.

CLASS 151 - Horse of the Year Show Qualifier 2007 - Lightweight Hunter -
mare or gelding 4 yrs old & over capable of carrying up to 12 stone 7lbs (79.5 kgs).

CLASS 152- Horse of the Year Show Qualifier 2007 - Middleweight Hunter
- mare or gelding 4 yrs old & over capable of carrying 12 stone 7lbs (79.5 kgs) and
not exceeding 14 stone (89kgs).

CLASS 153 – Horse of the Year Show Qualifier 2007 - Heavyweight Hunter
- mare or gelding 4 yrs old & over capable of carrying over 14 stone (89kgs).

Special 85 - RIDDEN HUNTER CHAMPIONSHIP - 1st & 2nd prize-winners from
the ridden hunter classes 150-153 to compete for The Cottage Garden Cosmetics
Perpetual Challenge Trophy, in addition £15 will be awarded to the champion
hunter & £10 to the reserve. This trophy will be presented in the Grand Parade which
will commence at 3pm in the main ring.

Special 86 - The Ronnie Marmont ‘Stanning Trophy’ - To be judged in the
Main ring after the Private Driving by Mrs Karen Humble will be awarded to the
exhibit which presents the most pleasing image of horse and rider, combining
distinguished and elegant appearance, suitability and fitness of purpose with stylish
performance. Two exhibits from each of the ridden hunter classes will be selected
during the judging of their classes to compete for this Championship. This trophy
will be presented in the Grand Parade which will commence at 3pm in the main ring.

Belstane have kindly offered the following vouchers:
The Champion will receive a voucher for expert horse bitting advice, and a Myler Bit,
this prize is worth between £80 and £100.
The Reserve Champion will receive a voucher for a pair of Pikeur Princesse or Sioux
Breeches, retail value around £80.

£10 will be awarded to the highest placed novice not in the first three prize-winners
in the ridden hunter classes. Those eligible should not previously have won a 1 st
prize of £25 or a total of £100 in ridden hunter classes. Please state on entry form if
eligible for this award.




                                          1.
The Blue Chip & IDHS(GB) £2,000 Challenge - The qualifier from each of the above
ridden hunter classes will be the highest placed horse (not already qualified) that is
registered or eligible for registration on the Irish Draught or Irish Draught Sport
Horse Register, i.e. with a minimum of 25% proven Irish Draught breeding. The
horse need not be registered to qualify but MUST be on the IDHS(GB) registers by
the time of the Championship which will be held at the annual IDHS(GB) Annual
Breed Show on 17th & 18th September 2007 at the Lincolnshire Showground. In the
Final, the Champion will be awarded £1,000 in prize money plus a Blue Chip rug.
The Reserve Champion will be awarded £500 and 3rd to 7th inclusive will be
awarded £100 each.



                                    PRIVATE DRIVING

              To be judged in the Main Ring at 11.30am (See rule 16)

    Judges: Private Driving – Mr C T Teague, Bewdley, Worcestershire
 BDS Second official meet – Miss Rowan Tunaley of Turnditch, Derbyshire

CLASS 154 – Pleasure Driving – this class is intended for newcomers to showing
and is not intended for those who show in private driving classes. Regular showing
competitors are asked to respect this. To be judged 15% vehicle suitability, fit &
cleanliness, 15% harness suitability, fit & cleanliness, 70% driver and groom,
horse/pony, way of going, and suitability as a family pleasure animal. Competitors
may be required to drive and halt between two pairs of cones and execute a U-turn
in their individual show. Open to singles, pairs and tandems, non-traditional and
exercise vehicles.
Entry Fees: £7.50          Prizes: 1st £20, 2nd £15, 3rd £10, 4th £5,

CLASS 155 - Private Driving class for horses and ponies any height 4 years old
and over, to be driven single, pair or tandem to a suitable vehicle (Commercial
vehicles & hackney show wagons are not permitted). There will not be a show drive.
If sufficient entries are forward, the class will be divided into two or more sections.

Entry Fees: £10 (Ashbourne Shire Horse Society members £6),
Prizes: 1st £30, 2nd £20, 3rd £15, 4th £10.

This class is a qualifier for the 2007 Osborne Refrigerators BDS National
Championships. The highest placed turnout owned & driven by a member of the
British Driving Society & eligible for the following Type Sections disregarding those
already qualified down to the 6th place in the class will qualify for the 2007 semi
finals. The championship will immediately follow the Semi-finals. Please state on
entry form if eligible for this award.

Special 89 - The Drew Skills Memorial Trophy will be awarded to the Best
Junior Whip (to be judged on driving ability) in classes 154-155. Please state on
entry form if eligible for this award.

CLASS 156 - BDS SECOND OFFICIAL MEET - PLEASE NOTE THERE WILL
NOT BE A SHOW DRIVE

Special 91 - MOUNTAIN & MOORLAND W.H.P. CHAMPIONSHIP - 1st & 2nd
prize-winners from the above classes to compete. The Champion will qualify for the
BSPS “David Manning” Champion of Champions

In addition, the Champion will receive a voucher for a pair of Muck Boot Tack Classic

1st, 2nd & 3rd prize-winners in Classes 157–159 will qualify for the BSPS
Championships 2007.

A prize of £5 will be awarded to the highest placed entry in classes 157–159 owned
& ridden by exhibitors residing within a radius of 25 miles of the Show Ground. All
eligible entries must wear a white armband.

                   B.S.P.S WORKING HUNTER PONY CLASSES

       Judges: Mrs Mackaness, Towcester & Mr L. Selby, Shrewsbury

             Entry Fees: £8 (Ashbourne Shire Horse Society Members £5)
              Prizes: 1st £15, 2nd £12, 3rd £10, 4th £8. (see regulation 15)
The highest placed entry in the novice working hunter pony, cradle stakes, and
nursery stakes ridden by a child residing within a 25 mile radius of the Show Ground
will receive a prize of £5. All eligible entries should wear a white arm band.

CLASS 160 - Novice W.H.P. W.H class – (For novice rules see Section J in the
2007 BSPS Rule Book) mare or gelding 4 yrs old & over not exceeding 158cms
(15.2hh). Riders not to have attained their 25th birthday before 1st January 2007.
Riders must jump in the correct height section & be the correct age for the height of
the pony they ride. Height of the Pony must be stated on the Entry Form

CLASS 161 – Open Cradle Stakes Class - Mare or gelding 4 yrs old & over not
exceeding 122cms (12hh). Rider must not have attained their 11 th birthday before
1st January 2007.

CLASS 162 - Open Nursery Stakes Class - Mare or gelding 4 yrs old & over not
exceeding 133cms (13hh). Riders must not have attained their 12 th birthday before
1st January 2007.

MINI W.H.P. CHAMPIONSHIP - 1st & 2nd prize-winners from classes 161 & 162 to
compete for The Young Ideas Perpetual Challenge Trophy. This trophy will be
presented in the Grand Parade which will commence at 3pm in the main ring.
The champion to qualify for the BSPS “Gill Genders” Champion of Champions.

CLASS 163 - WHP not exceeding 133cms - Mare or gelding 4 yrs old & over not
exceeding 133cms. Riders must not have attained their 14th birthday before 1st
January 2007.

CLASS 164 - WHP exceeding 133cms not exceeding 143cms - Mare or
gelding 4 yrs old & over. Riders must not have attained their 17th birthday before 1st
January 2007

CLASS 165 - WHP exceeding 143cms not exceeding 153cms - Mare or
gelding 4 yrs old & over not exceeding 158cms. Riders must not have attained their
20th birthday before 1st January 2007

CLASS 166 - Open Intermediate WHP exceeding 148cms not exceeding
158cms - Mare or gelding 4 yrs old & over. Riders must not have attained their 25th
birthday before 1st January 2007

Special 92 - W.H.P. CHAMPIONSHIP - 1st & 2nd prize-winners from classes 163,
164, 165 & 166 to compete for The Mertrux Challenge Trophy presented by
Mertrux Limited of Derby. This trophy will be presented in the Grand Parade which
will commence at 3pm in the main ring. The champion to qualify for the BSPS “David
Manning” Champion of Champions.

                               WORKING HUNTERS

These classes will be judged under SHB(GB) Rules. Only horses registered on the
2007 Show Hunter register are eligible to enter the working hunter classes.
Registration numbers must be quoted on the entry form & owners & riders must be
members of SHB(GB).

CLASS 167 - Novice Working Hunter – Qualifier for Lincolnshire Agricultural
Society‟s „Robert Goffin Working Hunter Championship‟ - Mare or gelding 4 yrs old &
over exceeding 148cms (14.2hh), not having won a total of £200 in working hunter
classes, or more than 21 British Eventing points or £200 BSJA show jumping before
1st January 2007 (or equivalent values).

Prizes: 1st £25, 2nd £20, 3rd £15, 4th £12
Special 93 - The K. J. Beeston Challenge Cup will be awarded to the winner of
this class

Lincolnshire Agricultural Society‟s „Robert Goffin Working Hunter Championship‟ - The
two highest placed horses (not already qualified) from the Novice Working Hunter
Class will qualify for the championship to be held at the Lincolnshire Show on
Wednesday 18th June 2008. Qualifier Rosettes and Cards supplied, Championship
Prize Money to 5th place: 1st Prize £400, 2nd Prize £150

CLASS 168 - Horse of the Year Show Qualifier 2007 - Lightweight Working

HOYS WORKING HUNTER CHAMPIONSHIP – 1st & 2nd prize winners in classes
168 & 169 will go forward to the Championship, the winner of which will qualify for
the Horse of the Year Show 2007. The highest placed horse will qualify to enter
unless it has already done so, in which case the 2nd horse will go forward. No horse
lower than 2nd place will qualify. Note – HOYS must have the entry within 2 days of
this show.

CLASS 170 – Hulland Saddlery Local Riders - Lead Rein or First Ridden -
rider under 10 yrs on the date of the show.

Special 95 - The winner of this class to receive the Williams and Glynns Trophy

2 complimentary tickets to Alton Towers will be awarded to the best lead rein not
exceeding 122cms (12hh), with a rider who has not attained their 7 th birthday on the
date of the show kindly donated by Alton Towers. Please indicate on the entry form
if you are eligible for this prize.

exceeding 148 cms but not exceeding 155 cms. Not to have won a 1st prize of £25
or more or a total of £100 in any show cob classes which were affiliated to the
Association, at home or abroad prior to 1st January 2007. Winnings gained as a 4 yr
old are excepted unless that 4 yr old has won an Open Class. A novice may be
shown in a snaffle bridle. Novice animals must be registered with the British Show
Horse Association or exhibitors must have purchase a day ticket in order to compete
in this class.

cob class will be the highest placed horse (not already qualified) that is registered or
eligible for registration on the Irish Draught or Irish Draught Sport Horse Register, i.e.
with a minimum of 25% proven Irish Draught breeding. The horse need not be
registered to qualify but MUST be on the IDHS(GB) registers by the time of the
Championship which will be held at the annual IDHS(GB) Annual Breed Show on
17th & 18th September 2007 at the Lincolnshire Showground. In the Final, the
Champion will be awarded £1,000 in prize money plus a Blue Chip rug. The Reserve
Champion will be awarded £500 and 3rd to 7th inclusive will be awarded £100 each.

1st prize of £25 or more or a total of £100 in any showing classes which were
affiliated to the BSHC&RHA, at home or abroad prior to 1st January 2007. Winnings
gained as a 4 yr old are excepted unless that 4 yr old won an open class. If the
category has been changed from a hack to a riding Horse or vice versa, it may not
revert back to novice if it has won a first prize of £25 or more or a total of £100 in
any showing classes which were affiliated to the association, at home or abroad,
prior to 1st January 2007. Winnings gained as a 4 yr old are excepted unless that 4
yr old has won an Open Class. A novice may be shown in a snaffle bridle. Novice

Special 97 - THE HOPE VALLEY SADDLERY HACK CHAMPIONSHIP - 1st & 2nd
prize winners from classes 181 & 182 to compete for The Dave Bowman
Leatherland Perpetual Challenge Trophy.
The Champion will qualify for the BSHC&RHA Hack of the Year at the Horse of the
Year Show 2007. If the 1st has already qualified, the 2nd will qualify. If the 1st & 2nd
have already qualified, the 3rd will go forward. Note – the HOYS must have the entry
within 2 days of this show.

These are qualifying classes for the BSHC&RHA Classic Supreme Championship which
is held at the National Championship Show, Stoneleigh, September 2007. 1st prize
winners to qualify. If already qualified the 2nd will go forward & so on. No horse
placed lower than 3rd is eligible to qualify.

Hope Valley Saddlery in conjunction with Horseware have kindly donated Horseware
Bug Rugs to the Champion and Reserve Champion.

awarded The Crane Transport Perpetual Challenge Trophy. This trophy will be

reserve to go forward to the Supreme in-hand Championship.

Special 108 - SUPREME IN HAND CHAMPIONSHIP – The Young Ideas
Trophy and the N.P.S. Mountain and Moorland In Hand Kilmannan Stud
Silver Medal Rosette Championship to be judged by Mrs B A Hodgson of
Lancashire.

A silver medal rosette is offered by the National Pony Society for the best registered
pony in the Mountain and Moorland In-Hand section. Exhibited by an adult/
standard member of the National Pony Society (Champion or Reserve Champion
only). Membership Card to be produced in the ring. This section to be run under
N.P.S. Rules. If the champion pony has already qualified, the reserve, on production
in the ring of their Membership card, will receive the qualifying card and sponsor‟s
rosette. Qualification to go no lower than Reserve Champion. Qualifiers are entitled
to compete in the N.P.S. Mountain and Moorland In-Hand Kilmannan Stud
Championship to be held at the 2008 NPS Summer Championship Show providing
they send to the N.P.S. secretariat the relevant fee and entry card provided with the
Silver Medal Rosette.

In addition, the Champion will receive a voucher for a pair of Muck Boot Tack Classic
Boots (valued at approximately £45) kindly donated by Belstane

                                         21.
                      REGULATIONS FOR THE SOCIETY‟S SHOW

1.   All Exhibits must be bona-fide property of the exhibitor & carry the correct
     number.
2. The judge‟s decision shall be final and the Council reserves the right to withhold
     any prizes, if, in the opinion of the judges, the exhibits do not possess sufficient
     merit
3. All prize money will be paid to the person in whose name the exhibit is entered &
     shown in the catalogue as the exhibitor/owner. Prize money will be allocated as
     follows – 4 or less entries = 2nd prize, 5-6 entries = 3rd prize, 7 & over entries =
     4th prize,10-20 entries = 5th Prize, 20-25 entries = 6th prize
4. The Society reserves the right to alter the schedule at its discretion or to merge
     classes if there are insufficient exhibitors. Entry fees will be refunded for any
     event cancelled
5. Any exhibitor wishing to lodge a protest in respect of any animal exhibited at the
     show in the light horse section must do so in writing within 60 minutes of
     completion of the class together with a deposit of £20. This sum shall be
     forfeited if, on investigation by the Council, the protest is not sustained.
6. The Council will not hold itself responsible for any loss or accident whatsoever,
     which may occur on the showground and all entries shall be deemed to have
     been made on this understanding.
7. Acknowledgement of entry forms, together with the necessary tickets, will be
     sent by the Secretary to enable exhibitors to check their entries have been
     received. If you do not receive this acknowledgment at least 7 days before the
     show, please contact the Light Horse Secretary.
8. Competitors are requested to take particular note of the times of their classes
     and to be ready in the collecting ring.
9. The Society reserves the right to have measured any horse or pony where there
     is a height stipulation and where certificates issued under the Joint Measurement
     Scheme cannot be produced as evidence of height.                   Where applicable,
     competitors may also be requested to produce birth certificates as proof of age.
 10. All foals must be at least 3 weeks old. Stallions & colts 2 yrs old or over must
     hold a Ministry of Agriculture, Breed Society or NPS Stallion Licence, unless
     otherwise governed by their individual breed society. All handlers of stallions &
     colts 2yrs old and over must be 14 yrs old or over.
 11. The ridden hunter classes are affiliated to The Sports Horse Breeding of Great
     Britain.    The SHB(GB) require all entries in the ridden Hunter Classes to be
     entered on their basic identity register or stud book
        1 The basic identity register is a one off lifetime register & the costs are:
            a Foal £22 (basic identity)
            b Older Horses £22 (basic identity)
            c Overstamp of any other society‟s recognised passport £20
        2 The only annual registration is for horses competing in a ridden qualifying
            class which is currently £40 for the horse & £45 for the owner & rider
 12. Mountain and Moorland in hand ponies must be registered with their respective
     breed society to be eligible to compete & registration numbers must be stated on
     the entry form.

13. The pony‟s breed society registration Number must be stated when entering
    Heritage classes
14. This show is affiliated to the British Show Pony Society Ref No BSPS 162/07 and
    all persons entering, competing, showing or otherwise taking part in BSPS
    classes whether or not members of the BSPS are subject to the constitution and
    rules of the BSPS including the disciplinary procedures and shall be deemed to
    have consented to the jurisdiction of the BSPS.
    This show is a qualifier for the BSPS Championships Show. The 1 st & 2nd Prize
    winners from the nursery stakes, 1st, 2nd, 3rd from the cradle stakes and heritage
    classes, & 1st, 2nd, 3rd & 4th from the mixed height SHP and WHP classes will
    qualify provided the pony is owned & registered in accordance with rules 23 &
    28 & ridden by a BSPS member.
    This is a qualifying show for the “BSPS Premier League”, the 1st, 2nd & 3rd placed
    ponies in the cradle stakes, nursery stakes and heritage lead rein, first ridden &
    ridden WHP classes and SHP & WHP classes will qualify.
    This show is a qualifier for the BSPS “Travel Trust Association” Challenge. The
    highest placed pony in the Cradle Stakes & Nursery Stakes, WHP & SHP &
    Heritage classes that has not qualified for the 2007 Horse of the Year Show, in
    the appropriate HOYS class, will qualify. If the highest placed pony has already
    qualified the qualification will be awarded to the next eligible pony.
    The Best Rider in the cradle stakes, nursery stakes, WHP, SHP and heritage
    classes where the rider has not attained their 25th birthday, will be awarded a
    best rider card and will qualify for the BSPS “Harry Hall” Rider of The Year final
    at the Summer Championships Show.
15. Classes 175-182 are held under the rules and jurisdiction of the British Show
    Horse Association.
16. In the Private Driving classes, all horses & ponies to be 4 yrs old & older. The
    driver must have attained their 15th birthday by the show day.                 The
                                                                            th
    grooms/passengers on competing turnouts must have attained their 11 birthday
    on the day of the Show. In the event that a driver is under 18, he or she must
    be accompanied in the vehicle by a person aged 18 or over. Proof of age will be
    required in the event of a query. BDS members only may take part & it is
    recommended in the interests of safety that all entries carry a responsible
    passenger.
17. If late entries are accepted, double the entry fee will be charged.
18. In the interests of safety, hard hats must be worn by all handlers aged 14yrs or
    under in in-hand classes
