Block 9: will reflect the date the MIDN entered into NROTC (formatted in the YYMMMDD format)
Block 10: Periodic
Block 14: Will begin at the day after the preceding FITREP (in this case, “10DEC18”, in the YYMMMDD
format).
Block 22: The Reporting Senior will be the “ELLISON, P A”
Block 23: “MIDN”
Block 24: “1/C”
Block 25: “BATCOM”
Block
Block 28 will read the same for all MIDN:
“Responsible for the training and guidance for all Midshipmen, Officer Candidates, and MECEP’s
enrolled in NROTC Unit Carnegie Mellon University.”
Block 29: will follow the following guidelines (except there will be no “-7” or “-9” etc. after each item.
These –numbers refer to the number of months a person was assigned to that duty). Here, we will use
this block to list all the events MIDN participate and the duties they perform.
Block 40: will have a realistic recommendation in it for what the MIDN should do next. At a minimum, it
should recommend “MIR” if they are not deserving or ready for a billet.
Block 41:
As discussed in the FITREP training, block 41 is the key block, here’s a sample:
Block 42: Each class will be allowed 6 “EPs,” and an unlimited number of “MPs.” For 4/c and 3/c
especially, but even upper classmen who are “just meeting standards,” a recommendation of
“promotable” is justified. (We should not say that everyone is an “MP” just because they meet
standards). Those that have had recognized problems can be assigned “Progressing” or “Significant
Problems”
Block 43: must have a “0” if no one in the class is given that recommendation. Otherwise these blocks
sum to equal the total number in each class. There will be 6 EPs given to the top 6 MIDN in each class,
the number of “MP” assigned will be put in the corresponding box, etc.
Note: in this example, there were 4 people in this summary group. One earned an “EP,” three earned an
“MP”
Block 47:
“GRANT, J M, LtCol, USMC, Commanding Officer, NROTCU CMU”
