Galva Congregational Church
Council Meeting
December 16, 2010
The meeting opened at 5:30 p.m. with Prayer and called to order by Chairman Don Hagaman.
Members Present: Joyce Baskovic, Don Hagaman, Karen Hagaman, Roger Ingels, Roger Mann,
Teri Pankau, Pat Foster, Marlene Manning and Bob Curry (Pastor)
Those members absent were Pam King, Rick Mack and Mike Lind.
Minutes: The minutes of the November meeting were reviewed with a motion made by Roger
Mann and 2nd by Joyce Baskovic to approve the minutes as written.
Treasurer’s Report: A spreadsheet income/expense report was distributed to members. A
motion was made by Roger Mann and 2nd by Roger Ingels to approve the report as submitted. A
motion was then made by Pat Foster and 2nd by Roger Mann to pay outstanding bills.
Benevolence and Memorial Fund: Roger Ingels reported a balance of $150.77 in the fund. It
was also reported that the church received a memorial gift from the LuBeth Dunbar Estate in the
amount of approximately $200.00 to be placed in the music fund.
Building Committee: Brian Goodman is taking care of the snow removal for the church this
winter. The building has another roof leak that will be looked at in the Spring. The downstairs
painting is complete and classrooms are now functioning. There were repairs done to the heat
system.
Music Committee: Marlene Manning submitted a report. (attached) The committee is looking at
having the childrens choir sing once a month/a Palm Sunday Program/Christmas Program next
year. It is hoped that these efforts will bring new people into the church.
Finance Committee: A motion was made by Roger Ingels and 2nd by Pat Foster to purchase two
$25 gift certificates for Sunday School Teachers Mike Wexell and Linda Curry. They will be
handed out this Sunday Morning during announcements.
Spiritual Committee: Usher and Communion schedules were handed out. A new Tri-Fold
Brochure, designed by Matt Pankau was reviewed and approved. There will be a sign-up sheet for
the new Rapid Response “Cookie Patrol”Ministry this coming Sunday.
Christian Education: The new classrooms are now functioning and the nursery is ready for some
kids. We have two people signed up to help in the nursery. Karen Hagaman and Gracy Heaton.
Pastor’s Report: Pastor may attend a Leadership Conference at Lincoln Christian University in
February. The December 26th Worship Service should be ready to go thanks to volunteers. Pastor
really would like to see the new committee structure come up with new and fresh ideas that will
help grow the church.
Other Business: Christmas decorations will be taken down on January 9th after worship service.
There will be Sunday School that morning. Looking at having some kind of celebration party in
January in the new, freshly painted fellowship hall.
With no further business to come before the council, Roger Ingels motioned adjournment and
Joyce Baskovic seconded. The meeting adjourned at 6:05 p.m.
