Course Information:

Prerequisite: Grades 10-12

Credit: 1.0 (Technology)

Term: Full Year



The students will learn the basics of graphic design and illustration. Throughout the year the

student will:

 Learn graphic design/illustration utilizing Adobe Suite

 Focus on careers in advertising/visual communication

 Demonstrate an understanding of elements of design and principles of design

 Design professional logos and advertising design

 Develop a graphics portfolio



The following graphic programs will be used during the school year:

Microsoft 2007

Adobe CS4 Suite



Grades/Evaluation:



Six Weeks Average: 50%- Exams and Projects

30%- Daily Work and Quizzes

20%- Classroom Participation



Semester Average: 28.3%- Each Six Week Grade

15%- Semester Exam





Supplies Needed:



1. Jump Drive/ USB Drive/ Flash Drive: Minimum 4GB

2. ½” 3 ring binder- any color

3. 25-50 clear plastic sheet protectors



Textbook:



Adobe Suite CS4: Classroom in a book

Make-Up Policy:



The make-up policy for projects, exams and daily work fall under the guidelines in the SISD

Handbook and will apply to the class. Projects, daily work and homework will not be given full

credit, if determined late. The student will lose 10 points a day up to 3 days for late work; after the

rd

3 day it will not be accepted. Work will not be made up during class time: this time is reserved

for planned instruction.
