Touching His Heart
I just wanted to share with you that we have been doing the Bucs games for the past 7-8 years.
We do it as a fund raiser for our youth group and the money goes to help the kids pay for things
like mission trips and such. This summer we took 18 youths and 5 adults to Weaverville, North
Carolina on a mission trip to Re-Creation Experiences. The cost of the trip was $425 per person.
With the help of Church members working the Bucs games we had a scholarship fund to pull
money from to help support those who could not afford the trip. It also provided parents an
opportunity to work and earn money for their youth.
The trip was a very meaningful experience to all of us that went. We worked on a home of a man
named Lenard Lee, he is 84 and has terminal cancer. He has lived in his home for 40 years and
the house is collapsing around him. We were not able to the work they originally planned for us to
do as by the 2nd day the house was deemed unsafe. However we did finish out the week there
by putting in a French drain and planting grass and some other work. Lenard is a very special
man and touched the hearts of each of our youth and adult leaders. God sent us to Lenard to do
more than fix his home.....to touch his heart!
All the long days at the stadium the volunteers put in working is worth every minute when you can
touch someone the way we touched Lenard. Thank you for providing the opportunities to help us
earn the money for our trip!
