LESSON #1 : WHO IS ALLAH?
- These lessons are intended for use anywhere in the elementary level, up to about
grades 7-8
- this lesson is a lesson in tawheed, but simplified in such a way that the kids will get
an easy idea of what tawheed is and our main belief of “la ilaha ila Allah”
LESSON STRUCTURE:
Q 1 – Who is Allah?
- Allah is God, the Creator of Everything and He is the Only One to
be Worshipped; Worshipped means to be Asked (for favours and what
we need) and to be Praised.
ALLAH IS THE ONLY ONE TO BE WORSHIPPED ALONE AND WITHOUT ANY
PARTNERS ( the only thing Allah never forgives is shirk)
Q2: What is the Shahada?
A: to believe that Allah is One, and that Muhammad (saaw) is his
Messenger (La ilaha illalah, Muhammadur Rasul Ullah)
Q3: What kind of things do we believe about Allah?
Allah is One Without Partner in His Dominion and Actions
(Tawheedul Rububia)
Allah is Unique, without similitude in His Essence and Attributes
Tawheedul Al Asma al Siffat)
Allah is the Only One to Be Worshipped (Tawheedul Ibadah)
(To Allah belong the Most Beautiful Names)
Everything happens by the Will of Allah.

Q 4- WHAT SIN DOES ALLAH NEVER FORGIVE? – SHIRK:
MAJOR SHIRK ~ ASCRIBING PARTNERS TO ALLAH
“Allah forgiveth not (the sin of) joining other gods with Him; but He forgiveth whom he
pleases other sins than this; one who joins other gods with Allah has strayed far, far
away (from the right) – An-Nisaa:116
False worship is indeed the highest wrong-doing; Luqman:13
Whoever joins other gods with Allah; Allah will forbid him the Garden, and the Fire will
be his abode” (Al Ma’idah:72)
THE LESSER SHIRK ~ Ostentation/ Showing-Off
“Beware of the Lesser Shirk” They asked, “What is the lesser shirk?” He said, “Showing
off in good works. Allah, the Almighty will say when recompensing the mankind for their
deeds: Go to those whom you showed off to in the world to see how they could
recompense you” (reported by Ahmad)”
Q 5 – Name the 6 Pillars of Iman/ Muslim Belief:
- To Believe in Allah, his Angels, His Books, His Messngers, The
Day of Judgement/ Qyiamah and the Qadr of Allah. (AMANTU
BILLAHI/WA MALA’I-KATIHI/ WA KUTUBIHI /WA RASULIHI
WAL YAUMIL AKHIRI/ WAL QADRI KHAIRIHI WA SHARRIHI MINAL-LAHI
TA’ALA/WAL BA’ASI BA’DAL MAUT).
SUGGESTED ACTIVITY: THE NAMES OF ALLAH
- have the kids draw the 99 names of Allah (each written on an Index card; one
side is English, the other Arabic); ask them to read these names and think
about what they mean. Eg. – Khalaq means The Creator – as Allah created
Everything.
- Have a short group discussion about Allah and his Qualities;
- Finish by reviewing the Lesson with random question and answers; have
the kids tell one fact each about what they learned today.

QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS – LESSON 1:
1. WHAT IS THE MAIN BELIEF ABOUT ALLAH?
- WE BELIEVE THAT ALLAH IS ONE, ALONE AND WITHOUT ANY PARTNERS. WE
CALL THIS TAWHEED.
2. WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF LIFE?
- TO WORSHIP ALLAH ALONE AND WITHOUT ANY PARTNERS.
3. WHAT ARE THE 3 CATEGORIES OF TAWHEED?
TAWHEEDUL RUBUBIA – Allah is One and Without any partners
TAWHEEDUL AL ASMA –AL SIFFAT – Allah’s Names and Attributes (Features) are
Unique – there is none like unto Him.
TAWHEEDUL IBADAH – we worship (believe pray and ask) only of Allah – alone and
without any partners.
4. WHAT IS THE SIN WHICH ALLAH WILL NEVER FORGIVE?
THIS IS SHIRK, OR ASCRIBING PARTNERS TO ALLAH – example: believing that
Allah is more than one, praying to other than Allah, praying to Allah AND other things
(pictures, prophets, religious people), praying to the dead, etc.
5. WHAT IS THE SHAHADA?
A: to believe that Allah is One, and that Muhammad (saaw) is his Messenger (La ilaha
illalah, Muhammadur Rasul Ullah)
6. WHAT IS A KAFIR?
A person who does not believe in Allah or ascribes partners to Allah; also, if a Muslim
starts to believe things which are not in the religion or go against the teachings of the
Prophet (saaw) also becomes a kafir. Example: if the person denies the Day of
Judgement or the Qadr of Allah.
7. NAME THE 5 PILLARS OF ISLAM:
SHAHADAH, SALAH, ZAKAH, SAWM, HAJJ
8. NAME THE 6 PILLARS OF IMAN:
To Believe in Allah, his Angels, His Books, His Messngers, The Day of Judgement/

ONE WORSHIPS ALLAH BY DOING WHAT ALLAH LIKES (BELIEVING AND SOING
GOOD DEEDS) AND NOT DOING WHAT ALLAH DISLIKES (DISBELIEF AND BAD
DEEDS); THE INSTRUCTIONS OF WORSHIP ARE IN THE HOLY QUR’AN AND IN
THE SUNNA OF THE PROPHET MUHAMMAD (SAAW).
10. NAME 5 OF ALLAH’S NAMES:
(EX. AL AHAD, AL BASEER, AR-RAHMAN, AR-RAHIM, AL QADR, AL-KHALAQ, AL
