Welcome to our weekly update!
This is where you will find lots of information on everything that is going on in our classroom.
Thank you for coming to meet the teacher. We enjoyed meeting you and are excited to get started on Monday. Thanks for
buying the supplies, and getting the extra 1 inch binder, students will find it useful to help keep organized.
Curriculum night for second grade is coming up next Tuesday Sept. 6th. Mrs. Lieberman and I will talk about what you can
expect in second grade. We encourage you to join us, we will begin at 5:30 pm.
Our first week of school we will spend time getting to know each other and learning the classroom and school routines. Since we
have so many students returning to Robison we should quickly get back into the Robison routines.
MATH
The first week of school we will be building numbers 1-99. We will learn different ways of writing these numbers: standard
form, picture forms, tens and ones, and word form. To see examples of these go to the CFISD website-

Math Facts- In first grade students learned addition strategies: count on, doubles, doubles plus one, etc. 2nd grade students are
expected to memorize their math facts thru sums of 18. We will begin right away and follow the schedule in the district scope
and sequence:
By Aug 27 Memorize sums to 5 plus identity (adding zero)
By Sept 10 Memorize sums to 10 plus identity (adding zero)
By Oct. 1 Memorize sums to 18
Students will be working on these in class, and should also be practicing them at home 10-15 minutes each day. Thanks!!
Homework – Homework will start in a couple of weeks.
SCIENCE
We will start the year learning to be safe in the science classroom, and how to think like a scientist.
We will learn 4 steps of the scientific process:
