in neighborhood
•Create flyer addressing speeding problems in Sunset Ridge and ask
builders, construction workers to respect neighbors by not speeding
•Sign the flyer from the children in the neighborhood (e.g. Joshua (3
½ yrs), Dillon (4 yrs), Matteo (2 ½ yrs), etc.)
Pros Cons

work in the neighborhood speeding
Option 2 : Apply Monetary Fines
Monetary Fines
•Place a monetary fine on speeder every time individual is spotted abusing
speeds
•Responsibility lies with neighbors
•Note license plate of abuser and report it to “safety” committee
•Safety Committee would be responsible for presenting fine to abuser
•Option to post license plate of abuser on website
•Fines would go to HOA
Pros Cons
Slapping fines on speeders could inhibit speeding There is nothing in the covenant regarding speeding and
speed limits and neighbors could refuse to comply with the
“safety” committee fine
Blatant and persistent speeders can be stopped Construction companies in violation of speeding limits
could also refuse to pay fines to HOA
Reduce speeding – reduce accidents Becomes one neighbor’s word against another’s – can
increase animosity in neighborhood
Option 3: Police Monitoring
Jefferson County Police To Monitor Speeding in Neighborhood
•HOA to submit a request to the Sheriff department for a Traffic Enforcement Plan
