SAVE
Systematic Alien
Verification for Entitlement
What is the SAVE process?
You may remember from Intro that SAVE is
a computer program operated by BCIS.
We use it to confirm verification of an
alien’s status as it is shown on their
documentation, such as an I-94 or I-551.
It ensures that their documents are valid.

What do I
have to do?
First, get the documentation of alien
status for the individual. (I-94 or I-551)
Make copies (front and back), and
put them in the PAFS-116.
Then, you can start the SAVE process.

Next, send a memo to your designated
regional SAVE contact person.
Do you remember who that is from when
you attended Intro to Family Support?
Yes, but what do I
put in this memo?
New Worker Super Worker
The most important information is
• Case Name & the full name and Alien# from their
Number documentation for all aliens, and
• Alien Name the case name & number.
• Alien Number You should also to include SSNs
• SS Number and birth dates, if you have them.
• Date of Birth

Then what happens?
The SAVE contact compares the information
with the SAVE web-based system.
If the alien status is verified, we annotate the
case and file the response in the PAFS-116.
New Worker Super Worker
What if it is not verified, or
shows they are ineligible?
Then we complete form G-845, attach the
alien’s documentation & mail it to BCIS.
The address is: US Dept. for Justice, BCIS,
701 Lagula Ave. Room T-8001,
New Orleans, LA 70113.
New Worker Super Worker
Do we discontinue the case
based on what SAVE shows?
No! Keep the member active until you
get the G-845 back from BCIS.
•If status is verified, document the case.
•If the status is not verified, remove the
member at that time. Consider the
individual as an Ineligible Alien (IA).
New Worker Super Worker
How often must I do
this SAVE process?
If the status is verified and the alien is a
permanent resident you only have to
do the SAVE process once.
But if not a permanent resident, we
must do SAVE at every Recert.
New Worker Super Worker
Is there anything else I
need to know?
Well, SAVE procedures vary in each region, so
your best source of information is always going to
be your local co-workers.
If you have any questions, don’t be afraid to ask!

Thanks, Super
Worker! You’re
the greatest!
No problem, Newbie!
Now get back to your Blackboard
work, and don’t forget to do the
“Immigrants Review Activity”!
