POSITION OPPORTUNITY:
PURCHASING MANAGER
Reporting to: Vice President of Operations (Gear)
Department: Purchasing
Grade: 33 (Exempt Position)
General Responsibilities:
Responsible for all activities within the Purchasing Department. Requires constant interfacing with Marketing,
Engineering, Production, Quality Assurance, and Finance to be pro-active in development of purchasing strategy
to drive performance of the supply base. Leads the development, execution and maintenance of a Supply Chain
Management Strategic Plan to drive the improvement process of supplies in the areas of On-Time Delivery
Performance, Cost Performance, Quality, Service and Lead-time Reduction.
Qualifications:
BS or equivalent experience and knowledge of purchasing procedures and policies in the technical purchasing
field. Eight years buying experience in supply management including three years with supervisory experience.
Experience with freight management, planning, forecasting, supply chain management, inventory control and Kan
Ban, Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement programs. Must have excellent analytical and
communication (verbal and written) skills to effectively develop and manage supplier relationships, perform
evaluations of suppliers based on cost, quality, service and delivery performance with published results to
management. Strong negotiation skills are essential. Ability to travel on as an needed basis.
