January 30, 2011

Dear Parents,

At St. Aloysius Catholic School, we are proud to partner with you in the education of your children.

Together we can challenge our young people to do their personal best academically while helping

them to grow in faith and develop Christian values.

St. Aloysius has a fifty year tradition of Catholic education, instilling in students the faith,

knowledge, morals and discipline that will enable them to fulfill their future roles in life. Now, more

than ever, a Catholic education is truly an investment in the future that is worth the consideration of

every family.

Here at St. Aloysius your investment will offer you these returns:

† Values-based teaching grounded in the tradition of the Roman Catholic Church.

† Superior education which will position your child for a lifetime of opportunity.

† Caring and supportive learning environment to enhance your child’s self esteem.

† Wellness activities that touch your child’s mind, body, and spirit.

† Safe, secure, and peaceful atmosphere of respect and discipline.

† Open, collaborative communication focusing on what’s best for your child.

Simply desiring a Catholic education may not be enough without a plan to finance your child’s

ability to experience them at St. Aloysius Catholic School. There are a number of financial

possibilities available to you. Please take the time to read through the information and contact

me if you need further clarification.

Parents are often concerned that their financial situation may change during the school year. If that

were to occur, you are encouraged to speak with the principal or business manager.

Thank you for your support of St. Aloysius Catholic School. May the Lord continue to bless us in our

partnership.

God’s Blessings,

Mrs. Andrea Puhl

Mrs. Andrea Puhl, Principal-Minister

St. Aloysius Catholic School Acceptance Procedures

In accordance with Christian principles, St. Aloysius Catholic School recruits and admits students of any race, color or

ethnic origin to all the rights, privileges, programs and activities. The school will not discriminate on the basis of race,

color, or ethnic origin in administration of its educational policies, or extracurricular activities. In addition, after the

academic school year begins, a child will only be admitted to St. Aloysius Catholic School if the family has moved into the

Bowling Green School District or by Principal discretion.

In the event of limited classroom space, preference in admission is made in the following order:

1. Currently registered students of St. Aloysius Catholic School. (KR-8)

2. Catholic siblings of currently registered students who are parishioners of St. Aloysius Church.

3. Catholic siblings of currently registered students who are parishioners of one of the other surrounding Catholic

Parishes without elementary schools.

4. Children of parishioners of St. Aloysius Church.

5. Children of parishioners of other area Catholic Parishes.

6. Siblings of currently registered students who are not Catholic.

7. Children of non-parishioners.

St. Aloysius Catholic School requires a solid commitment from parents to register and enroll their child(ren) for

the 2011-2012 school year. Various factors influence the school budget – enrollment, economy, state funding,

parish subsidy, etc. In order to give the school appropriate time to study these factors and to budget effectively,

we ask parents make a final enrollment decision before summer break of 2011.

Registration Procedures

Current Family Registration: Current family registration begins on February 10, 2011. A completed registration

packet, the Family Registration Fee, and the Classroom Materials fee are to be returned by March 4, 2011. NO family

will be allowed to register children and attend St. Aloysius Catholic School for the following school year, if

tuition/fees have not been paid from the previous school year.

New Family Registration: New student registration will begin on March 6, 2011. To enroll your child(ren) at St.

Aloysius Catholic School, a completed registration packet and the registration/classroom materials fees are required.

Acceptance to St. Aloysius Catholic School for students in grades 1-8 will be decided by the Principal after having

conversation with parents and obtaining information from the student’s previous school. If acceptance is denied, the

registration is refunded.

Kindergarten Readiness/Kindergarten Placement: In May 2011, registered students entering Kindergarten

Readiness or Kindergarten will be placed in the appropriate class based on parent recommendation. After screening in

August, final placement into the Kindergarten Readiness or Kindergarten class will be decided by the Kindergarten Team

(principal & teachers). Following screening, discussion will take place with parents if the Kindergarten Team determines

class placement does not match the parent’s initial registration request.

Tuition Assistance (Scholarships)

It is our intention to ensure that each child, who is a member of St. Aloysius Parish, will not be denied an education at St.

Aloysius Catholic School as a result of the inability to pay tuition costs. If you would like to apply for tuition assistance,

three sources are available: Northwest Ohio Scholarship Fund, Tuition Assistance Endowment through the Diocese of

Toledo, and St. Aloysius Parish/School.

If your family is in need of financial assistance, St. Aloysius Catholic School has three ways to provide help.

#1: St. Aloysius School/Parish Tuition Assistance ensures that each child, who is a member of St. Aloysius Parish, will not be

denied an education at St. Aloysius Catholic School as a result of the inability to pay tuition costs. The application is

included in the registration packet. Final determination of assistance will be made by May 1, 2011 by the Pastor and

Principal.

#2: The Northwest Ohio Scholarship Program offers funding for tuition assistance for families who enroll in local private

schools and who meet specific qualifications. Eligibility is based on your family’s annual household income. The

application is available at www.cyss.org (click on schools.) Please return with your registration. This is renewable if a

family continues to qualify.

#3: Toledo Diocese Tuition Assistance Endowment “One Faith… Many Blessings” offers funding to students with needs-based

financial aid. Detailed information will be included in your 2011-2012 registration packet if this scholarship is available

for the 11-12 school year.

All families are also encouraged to participate in Tuition Reduction Incentive Plan. TRIP helps families reduce the cost

of tuition by purchasing gift certificates for retail establishments. Information on this program is available through the

school office or Parent Association. If you and other family members participate, you have the potential to earn your

child’s entire tuition cost by buying gift certificates for purchases you already plan to make.

It is our school’s policy that if a family receives a scholarship from NWOSF or OFMB and has been granted

assistance from St. Aloysius Parish, the Parish scholarship amount will be reduced by the amount granted from

either of the two funds. St. Aloysius Parish Scholarship reduction will appear on your family tuition account once

all other scholarships have been granted and the Business Manager has been notified. Reduction of your family

account due to assistance granted by the NWOSF or OFMB will appear once we have confirmation from the fund.

Since you are notified of the scholarship before the Parish is, we ask you to bring in your confirmation letter to

the Parish Business Manager to adjust your account.

Tuition Refunds

The registration/material/learning center fees will be refunded if a student is not accepted to attend St. Aloysius Catholic

School by the first day of the 2011-2012 school year.

Students who transfer out of St. Aloysius Catholic School or are expelled during the school year will receive tuition refunds

according to the following plan:

1. Registration and Classroom Materials fees are non-refundable.

2. Withdrawal Refunds:

Before July 1, 2011: 100% tuition refund.

July 1, 2010 through the end of the first semester: 50% of the prorated school days remaining for 2011-2012.

nd

After 2 Semester begins: 10% of the prorated school days remaining for 2011-2012.

Note: If you are paying through the FACTS Payment Plan (beginning June 1, 2011) and your child/children leaves

St. Aloysius School for any reason, you are obligated to continue making payments for the balance due

according to the refund schedule above, unless other arrangements are made with the Pastor/Principal.
