Snacks to help you lose weight
has become a grave problem in our society today. Snacking can be attributed to this menace but it can also
be attributed to successes all over the world. Snacking can be bad or good. Bad snacking is when someone
overeats to get over something, may be a lost job, a dump from your loved one, an accident among a myriad
of reasons. This type of snacking is mainly associated with eating junk, pastry, delectable treats and other
unhealthy foods. Chances are, with this snacking, it becomes a habit and we eat ourselves to our graves.
Good snacking involves a motive to take care of your body and stay healthy. This has also been used by
many to lose weight over their own preferred timelines. Good snacking or wise snacking helps you satisfy
your hunger, stay fit, maintain a desirable weight as well as shed off extra unwanted fat. Wise snacking
involves eating small sequential healthy snacks at predetermined times during the day. These snacks are
high in fiber, low in fat, low in sugar and play an important role in keeping us away from the doctor. They
provide fiber, nutrients and vitamins our body needs to stay in health.
A move from bad to good snacking is key in helping us lose weight. healthy snacks help you eat less while
you burn more calories. As we all know, we need to consume fewer calories to lose weight. fewer than our
calorie maintenance level. Lets take a look at healthy snacks to help us lose weight:
Nuts:
Nuts are great sources of fats, proteins and vitamins. They have great nutritional value. Nuts contain
monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which makes then good sources of fats. Examples of nuts include
macadamia nuts, hazelnuts, almonds, brazilnuts among others. You can use nuts as snacks especially
because they are filling and have alot of nutrients that will help you a great deal towards your goals. One
almond has 8 calories. If you ate a handful of them, say ten in a day, you would consume 80 calories.
Imagine replacing this with a bar of chocolate that has more than 250 calories. Replace crisps, chips, cookies
and other trans fats with nuts. Plan at least 2 - 3 snacks a day, and have nuts as the first.
Fruit and vegetables:
strictly make fruit and vegetables part of your daily meal plan. These are sources of great vitamins and fiber
plus other nutrients. The high nutritional value will give you more energy to make you succeed in weight
loss. Get great vegetable salad and fruit salad and start making healthy snacks from them. I find that i like
fruit salads alot. I cut a banana, pineapple and pawpaw to make a healthy salad which i can eat at any time.
Some times, i throw in an avocado. Another important point to note is, choose fruit over juice. This way,
you increase your fiber intake and take in less sugar.
Dairy products:
I recommend using natural unflavored yogurt and skim milk also as a snack. Replace soda with these 2
alternatives. They are high in proteins, calcium, vitamin A and vitamin B. For example, a cup of whole milk
contains 146 calories while a cup of skim milk contains 86 calories and the same contain the same amount
of calcium.
Healthy snacking, therefore, is a habit you should form to lose weight easily, keep it away permanently and
stay healthy.
