Are you feeling a bit lonely?
That is fine, do not feel bad. Many people feel that way often. One great way to get yourself out of your
shell and experiencing life is to take group tennis lessons. You will find yourself laughing and joking with
people that were total strangers a week before, as well as getting some great exercise.
If you have never played before, that is even better. Here are the steps to follow:
1. Go to your local public tennis center. Almost every town has one. Look up "Tennis" in the Yellow Pages
if you can't find one.
2. If you are a total beginner, sign up for a beginner session. If you haven't played in a while, still sign up for
a "lesser" session because then you will feel no pressure when you first go out on the court. If you are out of
work and cannot afford it, talk with the manager about trading your skills with something they need doing.
Maybe they need tournament volunteer help, maybe they need cleaning help, or possibly they have
scholarships? Tell them that you want to play tennis!
3. Once the day has arrived, wear comfortable clothes. If you don't like how shorts look on you, wear some
sweat pants. Make sure you are wearing tennis shoes.
What you will find is that group tennis lessons willhave you interacting with others without you even
realizing it. After the first few weeks, you'll find yourself chatting with your classmates and organizing
practice sessions. The reason why it is so much more effective than just exercising at a workout club, is that
when you are in line in a group lesson, you just naturally interact with the person in front or behind you.
You also find yourself laughing at their bloopers or yours.
Try it, you won't be sorry. What is the worst that can happen? You lose a few pounds and get in better
shape?
