Healthy Foods For Losing Weight

Welcome to my Lens on 'Healthy Foods For Losing Weight'. With today's many diet plans and fads flooding

the bookstores and health food websites, it can be difficult to know which you should be eating to maintain a

healthy weight. There are a wide range of foods whether you're looking for healthy, organic foods or a

prefab meal collection from a box for anyone who wants to lose weight or simply to stave off the upward

trend in weight that normally occurs as we age. The results you will receive while eating these foods will

simply blow you away.

Weight Loss Foods

It is crucial to maintain satiety while eating regardless of what foods you decide to eat including foods. What

is satiety? It relates to brain signaling that you are no longer hungry when you have taken in enough of a

food or foods. Most carbohydrates hinders this process while certain fats allow it to take place easily. An

example of a healthy fat to eat for satiety is found in avocados. An avocado can contain up to 30 grams of

fat! Most people try to eliminate all fats when trying to lose weight when some fats are actually good to eat.

Monounsaturated fats are in avocados which are perfectly healthy and in addition promote satiety while

eating. So when you decide to make a side salad, consider a healthy serving of avocado on top of the salad

to help fight off hunger pains later.

In addition, you should try to keep in mind a great polyunsaturated fat called olive oil and include it into

your diet. Not only is olive oil a great oil to saut your vegetables in, it also contains omega-3 and omega-6

fatty acids, both essential in the human body. Omega-3 fatty acid is generally much more difficult to obtain

compared to omega-6 fatty acid which most of us can product and are able to take in plentiful. It is

important to include olive oil and certain types of fish, as they are a few natural sources of omega-3 fatty

acid. In addition, studies have shown that omega-3 fatty acid may help in reducing the risk of heart disease.

If you don't want to let go of red meat, you're not alone. Cutting out red meat from your diet was the advice

from doctors given to patients with high cholesterol or weight issues over the past decades. Thirty years ago

there was good reason for this suggestion, since red meat at that time very commonly contained large

amounts of animal fat. Saturated fats such as animal fats are believed to contribute to high levels of

triglycerides in the bloodstream resulting in the build up of plaque deposited in the vessels known as

atherosclerosis. Today, leaner forms of steak and other cuts of meats are readily available for almost

everyone. A visit to the local meat market could be an educational experience in the cuts and types of beef.

You will be amazed to find that some cuts only have 5% fat. What can you do with this little amount of fat?

If it is steak, you can reduce your fat intake further by grilling the meat, as it will reduce the residual fat to at

least half. Lean red meat can be considered as one of the many weight loss foods as it requires more energy

from the body to break down the meat than it is stored in the body by fat content. Virtually no one would

have imagined just 30 years ago that red meat was actually one of the great weight loss foods.

Have you came upon the commercial about the 'incredible, edible egg'? This commercial met some

resistance in the early 1990's as some doctors and researchers began to question the amount of cholesterol

found in eggs. Many people began to avoid eggs or only eat egg white for several years. However, recent

studies conducted have found no direct correlation between consuming eggs and heart disease and that the

cholesterol found in eggs is significantly lower than previously thought. The truth is eggs are just one of the

weight loss foods with lots of goodness such as promoting satiety and helping to maintain your blood sugar

level.
