Q1) Could you tell us something about yourself?

Desired answer: Try to be creative and honest about yourself. Do highlight your strengths,
but do not be too boastful about your accomplishments. The areas that one needs to cover
are name; final qualification/multiple qualifications; work experience, if any; major
achievements (including projects, co curricular and extracurricular activities); languages
known (if it would provide an edge in the given situation); one's strengths and hobbies,
though not necessarily in that order. Give your family background only if you’re asked
about it.

Q2) Where do you see yourself five years from now?

Desired answer: The main aim to ask this question is to test the candidate’s skills,
temperament, achievements and how deeply the person has thought about his/her future.
Avoid giving a general answer like 'in a higher management position' or ‘higher technical
position’, as this shows a complete lack of planning and thought.

Q3) Do you know something about the company?

Desired answer: You should be prepared with this question and know about the company,
its business, work area, their USP/ reasons for their success, their annual turnover, the
main people in their organisation, their chief rival(s) etc. The main objective behind this
question is to gauge the candidate's keenness for joining the company.

Q4) Are you willing to take up additional responsibility?

Desired answer: This is asked to check your flexibility and willingness to help in time of
crisis. You should answer, “Definitely, if it is in keeping with my knowledge/skill set or if it
will provide me the scope to learn something useful.” Try not to flatly refuse to take up
greater challenges. Also answer in a certain way where one shouldn't leave the scope for
random work being dumped on oneself.

Q5) What salary do you expect?

Desired answer: One of the toughest questions in the interview, this is asked to assess your
awareness about the industry as well as where you place yourself in the salary bracket that
your profile covers. Asking for a thirty percent hike is the general trend.

Q6) Are you ready to relocate?

Desired answer: This question is asked to check your commitment to the company.
However, say yes only if you actually mean it. If you refuse though, always offer a valid
justification. In today's context being a woman, being married are not considered valid
reasons.

Q7) What are your weaknesses?

Desired answer: You should have a realistic view of yourself and must know your
weaknesses. However, just giving your weak points is not enough. It is important to tell
what one is doing to address them so as to either get rid of them or reduce their impact in
your career. One should never lie, exaggerate or hide one's inadequacies. More so, it is
necessary to provide an justification for one's claims, admit to one's inadequacies and
provide an action plan.

All the Best!
