work qualities. Please note that recommendations cannot be transferred to your academic
application (item #2, below). You may check with each field based program to seen where you are

2. Academic Application - Submit an application for Graduate Study including transcripts from the
undergraduate and graduate schools you have attended. Also request 3 letters of recommendation -
2 must come from faculty members from your most recent degree program, and a third from a
supervisor or cooperating teacher. See complete directions accompanying the application. (Send

           LEHIGH UNIVERSITY SPECIAL EDUCATION - POSITIONS IN FIELD-BASED PROGRAMS

The following programs operated by Lehigh University offer full-time or part-time positions that include full
tuition plus a stipend or salary plus benefits that include tuition. Hiring decisions are made by the
administrative staff of each field based program. This consideration form will be forwarded to the Directors
of the top two programs that you select as preferences. Competition for these positions is high. Prospective
or admitted students are encouraged to submit this form as soon as possible and contact the administrator
of their top choice programs to check on their status.. For most positions, preference is given to individuals
accepted by the Special Education program. To be sure of being eligible for the position of your choice,
submit your full graduate application to the Graduate School of Lehigh University as soon as possible. Also
send 3 copies of this field-based form directly to the Special Education Program, College of Education,
Iacocca A-320, Bethlehem, PA 18015.

LEHIGH SUPPORT FOR COMMUNITY LIVING provides support to adults with developmental disabilities to live in in
the community. Full-time and part-time tuition supported positions available. Must be available on evenings and
weekends. Contact Dr. Freya Koger, 610/758-4888 or 610/758-3247. All positions are 12 months and begin from
June 1 to mid-august.

        PROGRAM MANAGER

        Minimum Qualifications: Enrolled in one of Lehigh's graduate programs in Special Education, General
        Education, or Counseling Psychology. Part-time 20 hr./week tuition supported position (18 credits tuition
        plus stipend). Primary Responsibility: Design and implement instructional community based programs for
        the individuals we support; serve as primary advocate for one individual; assist individuals their day-to-day
        living needs.

        SUPERVISOR

        Minimum Qualifications: One year's experience at Lehigh Support preferred, strong supervisory
        evaluations, leadership potential, enrollment in the Special Education or related graduate program. Full-time
        40 hr./week position with benefits which include 18 credits of tuition. Primary Responsibility: Program
        manager's responsibility, plus staff supervision/training and overall house coordination.


        OVERNIGHTS

        Minimum Qualifications: Enrolled in the Special Education graduate program. Full-time/tuition supported
        position (18 credits tuition plus stipend and room and board). Primary responsibilities include, sleeping at
        the home to provide assistance as needed; assist the residents with early morning and evening bedtime
        routines.

        COORDINATORS

        Full-time and Part-time professional positions that oversee daily running of the programs, requires a Master's
        Degree in Special Education or a related field or substantial experience in the field of disabilities. These
        positions are advertised locally and nationally.

COMMUNITY CHOICES provides job training and support for integrated leisure to adults with severe disabilities.
Preference given to applicants with interest in gaining expertise in severe disabilities. Ms. Donna Lacey , Director.

        RESEARCH INTERN

        Qualifications: Acceptance into Lehigh's M.Ed. program in Special Education or graduate programs in
        School Psychology or Counseling Psychology. Bachelor's degree may be in any field, but experience with
        individuals with disabilities is preferred. Must have valid PA driver's license and good driving record.
        Benefits: Salary plus 18 credits tuition per year and insurance benefits. Full-time teaching for four to seven
        adults with severe developmental, physical, or other disabilities. Requires planning, instruction, assessment,
        care giving, and transportation duties (driving van).
 LEHIGH UNIVERSITY TRANSITION AND ASSESSMENT SERVICES provides comprehensive educational
 services to area school districts that include private high school programming utilizing 1:1 ratios, IEP development,
 and post-secondary experiences. In addition, individualized services (i.e., supported employment, community based
 instruction) for individuals over the age of 21 are offered. Contact Dr. Freya Koger, Director, 610/758-4888 or 610-

          COORDINATOR

          MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Acceptance and enrollment into Lehigh’s doctoral program in Special
          Education, School Psychology, and/or Counseling Psychology. Prior supervisory and management experience
          in the field of human services is required.

          Benefits: Salary, health benefits, paid vacation, and 18 credit hours of tuition per year.

          Job Description: Full-time professional position that includes supervision and training of master’s level
          students in all aspects of providing innovative supports to young adults and adults with cognitive disabilities.
          In addition, administrative oversight of the development of annual plans in collaboration with school districts
          and other state agencies. Position runs from July 1 through June 30 (12 month).

          RESEARCH INTERN

          MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Acceptance and enrollment into Lehigh’s Masters/Specialist programs in
          Special Education, School Psychology, and/or Counseling Psychology.

          Benefits: Salary, health benefits, paid vacation, and 18 credit hours of tuition per year.

          Job Description: Full-time instruction of adolescents or young adults having a wide range of physical and
          developmental disabilities. Responsibilities include assessment, IEP/CER, instruction, and participation
          behavior plan development. Collaboration with students, families, school districts, and government agencies
          is required. Supervision and mentorship of teacher associates is expected. Position runs from July 1 through
          June 30 (12 month).




CENTENNIAL SCHOOL: Centennial School is a state approved private school for children with serious emotional
disturbance. Positions are available for certified special education teachers and for teacher associates who may have
a Bachelor's degree in a field other than special education. Dr. Michael George, Director of Centennial School
