Course Description:

This intensive course introduces the fundamentals and practical aspects of using the Global
Positioning System for control and topographic surveying. Topics ranging from the basics of GPS
through survey network design, planning, static and RTK surveys and finally adjustment of survey
data will be examined in detail through a series of classroom lectures and practical field exercises.

Who should attend?

Specifically designed for new users of GPS, this course will also appeal to experienced users with
an interest in integrating post-processed control and real time topographic surveys. Highly
recommended for anyone currently using GPS for surveying that has not previously received
formal GPS training.

Course content:
        Overview of the global positioning system

        Using GPS carrier phase techniques for surveying

        Configuring and using a GPS Total Station (4700/4800/5700/5800) with the TSC1/TSCe
         or ACU w/Survey Controller software for Post-processed (Static) and Real Time Surveys.

        Post-processing using Trimble Geomatics Office (TGO) software

        Network adjustment using Trimble Geomatics Office (TGO) software

        Collect, process, analyze, manipulate and present survey data captured data in Trimble
         Geomatics Office (TGO)

        Using a GPS Total Station for stakeout operations and a control search tool.

        Export data in required GIS and other software package formats

        Customized export format and reports
