Chapter 1. Overview
Chapter 1. Overview



            KINTEX, as an international tradeshow venue co-invested, by Gyeonggi-provincial
            government, Goyang-city government and KOTRA, has differentiated operating
            strategies, aiming at providing a new keystone for Korean exhibition industry and
            upgrading the exhibition culture in Korea.


      I. Vision of KINTEX
            A leading Exhibition Center in the North-East Asia
            With the indoor exhibition space of 53,541m2, KINTEX is the largest exhibition center
            in Korea, which finished the 1st step construction. Over 3 steps of constructions by
            2013 the gross area will be 333,580m2 including the exhibition area of 178,513m2(Net).

II. Procedures for Use of Exhibition Halls
  1. Commencing Day of Lease

    (1) Opening of Exhibition Hall
       The hall manager (marketing team) or security company will open the door of the
       concerned exhibition hall on the commencing day of lease, and the door key of
       exhibition hall will not be provided during the term of lease. However, the user
       will have the power for locking devices of the incidental spaces including the
       organizer’s office.

      * However, the organizer’s office in the 1st floor is connected to the inside and
      outside of exhibition hall, so it’s required of special password control. The
      organizer shall take responsibility for all the securities in the leased space during
      the term of lease.

      * It’s set at “0000”, and in case of changing it, it’s required to set “0000” upon the
        expiry of lease.

    (2) Inspection and Instruction
       Upon commencement of lease, the inspection will be made on the facilities,
       equipment and fixtures and the responsible person of the organizer shall be
       present. When signing the “Facility Check Sheet” after confirming the numbers on
       the utility meters (electricity, water, etc.), the organizer may start to use the
       exhibition hall.
    (3) Preparation of “KINTEX Check List” and confirmation of submitted documents.

  2. During the Term of Lease

    (1) Opening/Closing of Exhibition Hall
       The door of exhibition hall will be opened and closed by the person in charge at
       the standard times. (standard using hours : 8:00~21:00 ; adjustable by submission
       of application for over-time use) Incidental spaces will be managed under the
       responsibility of the organizer during the term of lease. The password may be
       changed and should be reset to “0000”.
    (2) Damage of Facility
       In case that any facility is damaged during use, it should be informed to the hall
       manager. After confirmation by both parties, the “Certificate of Restoration” will
       be prepared and it will be charged after restoration according to the “Rules for
       Operation of Exhibition Halls”.

  3. Upon Expiry of Lease (after carrying-out, demolition and cleaning)

    (1) Meter Checkup : The numbers on the used utility meters will be check together
        with responsible person of the organizer.
    (2) Confirmation of Restoration : The facilities and equipment will be confirmed of
        restoration with the person in charge of KINTEX.

      V. Booth Design & Setup Works
         1. Installation of Management Facilities

             (1) Electricity, Water/Drainage, Compressed Air Facilities
                The organizer may perform the electric work for exhibit operation and local
                lighting, water supply/drain facilities and plumbing for gas through the
                designated vendor, by connecting with the trench box in the exhibition hall, and
                such facilities can be used after confirmation by KINTEX after completion of
                works, for which the cost and expenses will be borne by the organizer.

             (2) Telecommunication Facilities
                The telephone and internet for the booth will be installed by DACOM and the cost
                and expenses will be borne by the organizer. The satellite and mass media TV
                signals will be provided with the telecommunication facilities free of charge. The
                organizer can connect from the setup box in the floor trench of exhibition hall to
                the desired spot. (However, the problem of low picture quality due to abnormal
                setup will be settled by the organizer.)

             (3) Broadcasting Facilities
                The facilities for announcement from the organizer’s office will be provided free of
                charge.

         2. Booth Design and Setup Works

             (1) Required Documents for Exhibition
                The organizer shall submit to KINTEX the Request for Technical Support, 5 copies
                of Total Floor Plan and the list of participating companies no later than seven(7)
                days before commencement of leasing the exhibition hall, and shall attach the
                specifications and process chart upon the request of KINTEX.

             (2) Work Report and Approval for Work
                1) For any work in the exhibition hall, the Report for Works shall be submitted in
                   the name of the contractor no later than seven(7) days before commencement of
                    leasing the exhibition hall.
                2) After reviewing the Application for Setup(Change) of Exhibition Booth
                   submitted by the contractor, KINTEX shall determined if appropriate, and may
                    approve or request for change.
                3) The contractor which is requested by KINTEC to change or wants to change
                   shall submit the Application for Setup(Change) of Exhibition Booth for the
                    approval, attached by the revised design drawing.
                4) In case of using the KINTEX facilities (electricity, air, etc.), the organizer shall
                    submit to KINTEX the revised the design drawing and the Request for Technical
                   Support no later than seven(7) days before commencement of leasing the
                   exhibition hall. (may be committed to the vendor.)
                5) If the contractor does not comply with the request of KINTEX for design change
                   or conditional approval after reviewing the documents prescribed in the
                   preceding items 1), 2), 3) and 4), KINTEX may take action including cancellation
                   of registration as a vendor and/or may stop the power supply for exhibit
                   operation of participating companies, etc.

             (3) Others
                1) When any overtime work is needed beyond the normal hours, the organizer

      shall submit the Application for Overtime Use to KINTEX in advance for
       obtaining the approval.
   2) Every worker shall comply with the instructions of KINTEX, and shall attach the
       pass card issued by the organizer.
   3) The setup work should not be done by the participating company except the
      following cases after obtaining the approval of KINTEX. However, the
      participating company will be considered same as the designated vendor for the
      matters concerned to the setup work including the report for work.
     - In case that the participating company has the employees in charge of interior
        setup works (interior design, ad material production, furniture manufacture, etc.
        is specified in the certificate of business registration);
      - In case that such company has the system materials (the evidences including
        the contract, photos of event, etc. to be submitted); or
      - In case that the interior setup is their exhibit.

(4) Set-up of Double-layer Structure and Ceiling Rigging System
   1) Setup of double-layer structure and ceiling rigging system can be adjusted by
      prior agreement with KINTEX.
   2) It is required to submit the application for exhibit stand setup and the evidence
       of structural calculation not later than seven(7) days before commencement of
       leasing the exhibition hall.
   3) For the partition of exhibit stand, a half or more of its girth should be open
       (except the transparent one).
   4) The width of double-layer stairs should be 1.2m or more.
   5) At the walking interval of 10m, the fire extinguishers should be located inside of
      double-layer structure.
   6) If the ceiling part is finished, it is required to set up one or more automatic
      sprinkler per square meter on the ceiling.
   7) The ceiling of double-layer structure should be open.
   8) The entrance of double-layer structure should be opened in the width of 0.9m or
      more, towards the exit, and the charging type emergency light should be set up
      at the front top of entrance.
   9) It is required to allocate the safety management staff.
   10) During R.S. work, any other work cannot be done below for the safety.

(5) Pathway
   1) The width of path between the booths is recommended to be 3m or more.
   2) The pathway should be connected straightly with the exit.
   3) Any facility or exhibit that may disturb escape in emergency should not be left
      on the pathway.
   4) Exhibition booth or incidental facilities should not be set up around the exit, EPS
      gate, fireplug or toilet. However, if such things might be obstacles in arranging
      the booth, they can be set up after obtaining the approval from KINTEX.
   5) In case of setting up the exhibition stand, they should be away from 30cm or
      more from the wall or mobile partition panel of existing structure, and not fixed
      to the existing structure.

(6) Used Materials
   1) The fire-proof or inflammable material should be used.
   2) Painting on the material surface is prohibited at the site. However, in an
       inevitable case, it can be done outside including the loading dock after
       obtaining the approval of KINTEX.

4. Safety/Fireproof

  (1) Laws for Setup, Maintenance and Safety Management of Fire Extinguishing
      Facilities (Summary)
     1) According to Article 12 (Fire-proof of the object under fire control) thereof, the
        interior materials carried in or set up in the exhibition hall [plywood, wood,
       textile, etc.] should be incombustible or semi-incombustible.

  (2) Objects under Fire Control
     1) Curtain (including blind)
     2) Carpet, wall covering less 2mm thickness (except wall paper)
     3) Plywood or textile board for exhibition (or stage)
     4) Dark-screen, stage screen (including the screen set up at the movie theatres).
     5) Interior design
        - acoustic or proof-sound material
        - Partition or temporary partition

     Punishment and Action for violation against No Fire Proofing
     1. Violation: Fine of 2 million Won or under, and order for correction.
     2. Non-compliance with Order for Correction: Sentence below 3 years and Fine less
        15 million Won.
     * The fire-proof processing should be done by the person who is registered
       for the concerned business, and the same law and action will be applied to the work
       by a non-registered company.



5. Prohibitions & Restrictions

  (1) Sales
     Main use of the facilities for sales or food & beverage service will be, in principle,
     prohibited, but may be partly allowed by prior agreement with the person in
     charge of KINTEX, as follows.
     - Finished goods (completely packed food with indication of validity).
     - No sales of product at higher price than the consumer’s price.
     - Product of quality above the standard determined by KINTEX.

  (2) Food & Beverage Service
     Except the following cases, any food & beverage service is restricted in the
     exhibition hall. Any of the following cases may be allowed by prior agreement
     with the person in charge:
     - Designated food & beverage service area (restaurant, food court, etc.)
     - Food & beverage tasting at the concerned exhibition.
     - Free food & beverage service at the resting room, etc.
     - Food & beverage service at the banquet function.

  (3) Restriction of Parking/Smoking in the Exhibition Center

             (4) Attachment of ad materials to the floor or wall by using tape, glue, etc.

             (5) Nail driving, drilling, painting, etc. on the floor or ball.

             (6) Carrying-in of LPG Container
                It is prohibited to carry in the LPG container into the building. In case that a LPG
                container should be used after receiving the inspection of the concerned authority
                in accordance with “Enforcement Rules, Safety and Business Management Law of
                Liquefied Petroleum Gas (Article 18)”.

             (7) Drain of Chemicals and Liquid of above 70°C (for PVC Pipe)

             (8) Carrying-in of Animals
                Any pet except those for exhibition should not be carried into the exhibition center.

     For accessing or parking of cargo vehicles, it is required to discuss with the person
     in charge of KINTEX. With prior notice, it needs to set up the leading signboard
     and arrange the guide so that may not disturb the traffic flow in the exhibition
     center.

      VII. Cleanup & Waste Disposal

         1. Cleaning

             (1) During Preparation
                Cleaning in the exhibition hall during the preparation will be done by the vendor
                designated by KINTEX, and the cost and expenses for waste disposal will be borne
                by the organizer.

             (2) During Exhibition
                During the exhibition, the public area(pathway) will be cleaned by the vendor
                designated by KINTEX, and the private area(inside of booth) will not be cleaned
                by them. The expenses for disposal will be borne by the organizer.

             (3) After Exhibition
                After finishing the exhibition, the waste should not be left in the exhibition hall
                under the responsibility of the organizer.

               * The expenses for disposal of waste produced during the exhibition will borne
                 by the organizer.




         2. Disposal of Waste

             (1) Disposal of Waste
                All the wastes produced in the exhibition hall should be disposed by the vendor
                qualified to dispose the industrial wastes at the organizer’s account. KINTEX has
                the designated vendors (for demolition) for streamlined operation of exhibition
                halls. (See the vendors list in out web site.) General garbage and industrial
                garbage are classified at the dump and disposed by the designated collector of
                KINTEX. The expenses will be agreed by the organizer and the designated
                collector.




               * If any facility is damaged or any waste is left, KINTEX will charge to the
                  concerned organizer the expenses for restoration.
