Summary:
Ayuda’s mission is to protect the legal rights of low-income immigrants in the
D.C. metropolitan area.
We are the District’s leading source of multi-lingual legal and social assistance
for low-income Latinos and foreign-born persons in immigration, human
trafficking, domestic violence, and family law. Our overall goals are to improve
the ability of our clients to live safe, violence-free lives and become fully
participating members of our community. Our organizational activities include:
Legal and social services that respond to changing public policies and
client needs;
Assistance to survivors and victims of domestic violence;
Collaboration and referrals to assure client access to culturally appropriate
services;
Community education about rights and resources; and
Training and technical assistance to social service organizations and
government agencies to better serve immigrants.
Ayuda operates a highly respected internship and training program.
Undergraduate, graduate or law school students may chose to intern either in
Ayuda's Immigration Program or its Domestic Violence/Family Law program.
Social work interns may apply to Domestic Violence/Family Law program.
Ayuda also welcomes administrative/fundraising interns for its general
operations. Ayuda internships are unpaid, but we are willing to assist with
externship credit and/or fellowships if the student takes the lead.
