Father / Son Hike
Fun was had by all on the Father/Son hike at Amicalola. Despite inclement weather
in the Atlanta that morning, we couldn't have asked for better conditions for some
outdoor time. We climbed 425 stairs to get to the top of the Falls from which the
view was quite impressive. Not only could we see the cascades of the highest
waterfall east of the Miss, but before us was a marvelous tableau of the Smoky
Mountains (called the Blue Mist Mountains by the Cherokee, and you know, they do
look blue!) and heavily forested valleys. In retrospect, I think the climb could
be viewed spiritually, very often climbing a mountain is symbolic of the spiritual
quest, of the soul's own journey upwards towards God (a nice example of this is the
Mountain of Purgatory in Dante's Divine Comedy). Certainly, being in Nature, God's
Creation, is good for the soul, and a reminder (or perhaps a reflection of) the Divine
Glory.
So why do we only do this once a year, when it was so much fun, was a question
asked by many. I think everyone agrees that more hiking trips would be good and
enjoyed by everyone, so plans are in the works to do a hike every other month.
If you are interested, let me know. I'll also announce it, of course.
Deus Lo Volt! :)

Co-op News
Our year is quickly coming to a close. Thanks go out to each one of you for making this
Co-op year a wonderful experience for our children.
Our Pinocchio Play will be performed on April 14th at 6:30pm with food to follow
performance. Performers are to arrive at 5:30pm to gather under the canopy outside which
will function as our “green room”.
Our Hobbit Play will be performed on April 21st at 6:30pm with food to follow as well.
Performers are to arrive at 5:30pm under the canopy as well.
Please come out and support both of these wonderful shows. The kids have worked so
hard to provide you with a memorable show. I guarantee that it will be a night to
remember.
Each family is asked to contribute 5 box tops to enter the shows. Door prizes will be given
away each evening.
Co-op 2007-2008
Our topic for next year has been chosen and we are in the process of formulating our
theme. Our academic session in the fall will focus on the study of our Environment.
I will be sending out a survey to gather your topic ideas along with any other input that you
may want to share related to Co-op and TORCH. We value everyone’s input and we need
some good ideas to enrich our programs and events. These ideas come from you. This
group will be what you want it to be so be looking for the survey early May.

Field Trips
April - No field trip
5/4 Beekeeper
Thanks to all who traveled to Cartersville for our March 2nd Field Trip to the Booth
Western Museum. The older kids had fun learning about Presidents and Heroes
while the younger crew really enjoyed the Cowboys and Indians tour. The
Whitehead boys even dressed as cowboys for the occasion! It was a beautiful day
for a short picnic and outside play for the kids ahead of time! What a great way to
spend our First Friday afternoon together!
In honor of Holy Week, we will not be going on an April Field Trip.
Mark your calendars for Friday, May 4th @10:00am to see a REAL Bee Keeper in
action! This should be a great learning experience for all the kids! I will send an
email out soon on the location, as I"m still trying to confirm. Hopefully, this will be
held at Wills Park in Alpharetta, so the kids can play and have a picnic afterwards.
Many of us will meet for 9am First Friday Mass at St. Benedict's, then caravan to
the park. Keep your eyes out for an email confirming these plans. For more
information see www.honeytown.com
Any questions about field trips, please call or email Karen Wise
