THE GEORGIA NATIONAL GUARD IS AN EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER. All

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: This position is located in the 116th Air Control Wing. The
purpose of this position is to inspect, repair, modify, and service aircraft systems, components, and
assemblies, both on and off aircraft.
***Area of Consideration***
1. Area One - The first area of consideration will be to Georgia National Guard Technicians assigned
to the 116th.
2. Area Two – Anyone eligible for membership in the Georgia Air National Guard.
Qualifications: In order to be found qualified; applicants need to be able to show how they possess the
General and Specialized experience requirements. Failure to demonstrate these experience requirements
may result in disqualification. AFSC/MOS, position description, job title, series, and grade WILL NOT
qualify an applicant.
GENERAL EXPERIENCE:
Must have experience, education, or training, which has provided the candidate with the skill to remove and
replace aircraft parts, accessories, and components and to make adjustments and settings according to
established specifications. Must be skilled in the use of hand tools and test equipment.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE WG-10:
Must have 18 months specialized experience in the overall maintenance, servicing, and documentation for
one or more aircraft; performing and overseeing unscheduled maintenance such as removal, repair,
replacement, rigging, aligning, cleaning, painting and corrosion control of aircraft; diagnosing and solving
malfunctions of aircraft systems, and components by using standard and special test equipment.

APPLICANTS WHO MEET THE ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS WILL BE FURTHER
EVALUATED BASED ON THE FOLLOWING KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND
ABILITIES (KSAs), WHICH ARE CONSIDERED ESSENTIAL TO PERFORM THE
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION.
A. Knowledge of aircraft components, e.g., landing gear, engines, flight
controls, hydraulic and fuel systems.
B. Skill in the removal and installation of various aircraft components and
parts.
C. The ability to use various tools, gauges and powered and non-powered
aircraft ground equipment.
D. The ability to interpret technical data, publications, regulations, diagrams
and schematics.
E. Knowledge of various inspections and preventative maintenance on
aircraft, e.g., preflight, thru-flight, post-flight inspections and lubrication of
components.
Basic Requirement:
Must possess a current, valid driver’s license. Failure to self-certify this information on the
application may be grounds for disqualification of the applicant. Physical evidence does not
have to be presented with the application. Current driver’s license may be from states other than
Georgia.
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE;
Study successfully completed in a technical or vocational school (as evidenced by
appropriate certificate of completion/diploma), may be substituted for experience (30
semester hours/20 classroom hours per week for 6 months of experience. Care should
be taken; however, that credit is based on the quality of the course content, the formal
classroom and actual shop work combination and length of course.
NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP AND COMPATIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
AFTER AN APPLICANT IS SELECTED FOR THIS POSITION AND PRIOR TO
THE APPLICANT BEING PLACED IN THE TECHNICIAN POSITION, HE/SHE
MUST BECOME A MEMBER OF THE GEORGIA AIR NATIONAL GUARD
AND BE ASSIGNED TO: THE 116 ACW IN AN ENLISTED POSITION IN
AFSC 2A5X1. THE INDIVIDUAL SELECTED FOR THIS POSITION MUST
REPORT FOR DUTY ON THE DATE DETERMINED BY THE SELECTING
OFFICIAL, NORMALLY WITHIN 15 DAYS OF THE OFFER OF
EMPLOYMENT. EXTENSIONS TO THESE REPORTING REQUIREMENTS
MAY BE GRANTED BY THE SELECTING OFFICIAL WITH HRO
CONCURRENCE FOR UNIQUE CIRCUMSTANCES SUCH AS GUARD
MEMBERS CALLED TO ACTIVE DUTY, PALACE CHASE, ETC. FAILURE
TO ABIDE BY THESE REPORTING REQUIREMENT TERMS WILL RESULT
IN WITHDRAWAL OF THE OFFER OF EMPLOYMENT.
THE WEARING OF THE AIR FORCE UNIFORM PRESCRIBED BY AFI 36-
2903 IS REQUIRED FOR INCUMBENTS OF THIS POSITION. ACCEPTANCE
OF THIS POSITION CONSTITUTES CONCURRENCE WITH THIS
REQUIREMENT AS A CONDITION OF EMPLOYMENT.
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: IF APPLICABLE, CANDIDATES
MUST BE ABLE TO ATTAIN/MAINTAIN SECURITY CLEARANCES
REQUIRED FOR THIS POSITION AND/OR AS DIRECTED BY THE AGENCY.
PREPLACEMENT MEDICAL REQUIREMENTS: PRIOR TO PLACEMENT IN
THIS POSITION, THE SELECTEE WILL BE REQUIRED TO UNDERGO THE
MEDICAL TESTS INDICATED BELOW AT THE EXPENSE OF THE
GOVERNMENT. MEDICAL TESTS WILL BE USED TO DETERMINE
FITNESS AND ELIGIBILITY FOR EMPLOYMENT.
-FOR WAGE GRADE POSITIONS ONLY: UPON REVIEW OF STANDARD FORM 78
(CERTIFICATE OF MEDICAL EXAMINATION). THE STATEMENT WILL BE USED TO
DETERMINE THE FITNESS AND ELIGIBILITY FOR EMPLOYMENT. UPON REVIEWING
THE STATEMENT, THE HUMAN RESOURCES OFFICER MAY APPROVE THE SELECTEE
FOR APPOINTMENT, REQUIRE ADDITIONAL MEDICAL INFORMATION OR THE
SELECTEE MAY BE FOUND MEDICALLY UNFIT TO PERFORM THE DUTIES OF THE
POSITION.
