The Bridge to Success—Post 2
Attention Legion Family
As many of you know, we have been working hard with a group to manage the Lounge and
Restaurant at Post 2. We have had some setbacks as we keep the building warm and apply for
the Liquor License. The funds are getting rather low. In order for us to sustain our financial
status, we are asking for your help.
The plan is to open the lounge under the management of MRK, Inc under the name “The
Pickled Parrot.” They will be doing lots of work to spruce up the lounge. MRK, Inc has asked if
we have members who would be interested in coming in to lend a hand with some of the
remodeling projects such as painting and moving equipment around. We need to be clearing
out many items that will no longer be used. That could be done with a rummage sale, perhaps.
If we help out, we could then be part of a soft opening night.
Plans are to open late April or early May. Our first payment will be in June, 2011. Post 2 will be
able to maintain the gaming business, and all proceeds would go to the Legion for gaming
expenses. We would also retain the ability to donate money to our Legion programs.
MRK, Inc encourages the Legion members to be part of the opening and to continue to have our
meetings and events at Post 2. We would hope to have pull-tabs and bingo back in operation.
This would require us to be organized with gaming manuals, a gaming manager and employees
for those events.
We need your ideas and input. We also need some financial assistance. Please consider
making a donation to the American Legion Gilbert C. Grafton Post 2, which would be tax
deductible.
