President’s Message

Throughout life we are faced with situations where we can

choose to either give or take. Examples include church, our

families, clubs, and professional associations like the IMA.

Often we give and take at the same time, such as in church

where we accept spiritual support from our church while we

may volunteer our time in some other way. In families, as

children we take from our households, letting our parents earn

money, clean the house, and provide for us in many other

ways. Later in life we may return the favor.

The IMA gives so much to our members. The Board of Directors consists of 21 people

who spend time creating things that benefit our membership. From luncheons to CPE

opportunities, from newsletters to certification guidance, the board gives a considerable

amount. As members, we should all think about giving back to the organization that has

helped us so much. Our board needs new members and new ideas. Sure, there are

benefits to being on the board; it’s an excellent chance to network, hone your leadership

skills in a non-threatening setting, and guide the profession. But more importantly in my

mind, it should be about giving back to an organization that’s given so much to you.

Next time you attend a meeting, take a moment to think about the hours that go on

behind the scenes. I hope each of you takes the time to “give back” in the near future,

as our board needs you to continue being one of the best chapters in the nation. We

must transmit to national our first draft of a board in late January. The board that

currently reports to me has worked hard to make this year successful and to help each

of you. Please contact me or any other board member soon to return the favor.

Dave

Points

As you may already know that our chapter will automatically get points for you passing

the exam. However, you might not know that we also get points for the time you spend

studying for it. We would recommend that you wait until you actually pass the exam and

report the number of hours to us so there will not be any change in the studying hours.

We will get one point for an hour spent studying. The maximum points we can get will

depend on the number of study hours suggested by your study materials for each part

of the exam, which can vary. For those of you that have taken the exam, please

send the following information to Warittha Thiragirayuta.

Exam Part: (1, 2, 3, or 4)

Pass date:

Study Materials used:

Number of hours spent studying: (Hours claimed cannot exceed the "recommended

study hours" in your study materials)
