UK TRADE & INVESTMENT INDIA BUSINESS AWARDS 2007 ANNOUNCED PRESENTED IN MUMBAI BY LORD DIGBY JONES, UK MINISTER FOR TRADE & INVESTMENT
The UK Trade & Investment India Business Awards 2007, celebrating path-breaking UK-India business partnerships, were announced yesterday evening by Lord Digby Jones, UK Minister for Trade & Investment, at a glittering function at the Taj Mahal Hotel. The function was attended by top-ranking business people representing world-class business links between the UK and India. The UKTI India Business Awards are the only awards from a foreign government that focus on India's excellence as a global business partner for the 21st century. The Awards and Winners were as below: INVESTOR OF THE YEAR For Indian companies that have successfully set up in the UK: TATA SONS BUSINESS PARTNERSHIP OF THE YEAR For a successful Indian-UK business partnership in the UK or India: DLF LAING O ROURKE INNOVATION OF THE YEAR For UK companies who have successfully launched a new product or service in the Indian market: HRS PROCESS SYSTEMS PVT LTD NEW MARKET ENTRANT OF THE YEAR For an Indian or UK SME company demonstrating start-up success in the UK or India: BENOY BUSINESS PERSON OF THE YEAR For an Indian or UK businessperson who has contributed significantly to India-UK business relations: MR AZIM PREMJI, WIPRO TECHNOLOGIES LTD ENTREPRENEUR OF THE YEAR For an Indian entrepreneur successful in the UK: DR VIJAY MALLYA, THE UB GROUP SUCCESSFUL LISTING OF THE YEAR SUBEX AZURE LIMITED
In addition, UK Trade & Investment presented a Special Recognition Award to Mr Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Group, in appreciation of his sterling contribution to the promotion of business relationships between India and the UK and to mark 100 years of Tata collaboration with the UK. Speaking about the Awards Lord Digby Jones said: " The UKTI Business Awards celebrate the achievements of UK and Indian companies that have found exciting ways of conducting business between our two nations and applaud the dynamism, creativity and innovation of these success stories."
