Spouse: Don Maescher, born in LA, met in Boston, married 9/9/79 (28 years).
U U
Children: Rebecca Bellamy Maescher, born 1983 (currently 24); 2 stepsons, Peter (39) and Chris
U U
(37) Maescher.
Grandchildren: Peter’s kids: Katie (7) and Jonathan (2);
U U Chris’s kids: Brooke (7) and Bailey
(4).
The brothers live on the South Shore of Boston, 4 miles apart—which means we don’t ‘see them
enough!
Pet: Sabrina, our Siamese cat, just turned 19!
U U
What I’ve been doing since 1966: Goodness, how to summarize 41 years into a few paragraphs!
U U
Not easy, even for someone who writes for a living. See last page for all the details….
Education: Smith College, BA, Art History, 1970; Boston College MBA, Finance, 1974.
U U
Career/Volunteering: After getting my MBA in 1974, I worked at a boutique investment bank in
U U
Boston for five years. From 1979 to 1986 I was a corporate lender, first for Bank of Boston (now
part of Bank of America) and then for Barclays Bank and Toronto-Dominion Bank in New York.
When we moved to San Diego my prior experience didn’t fit the local banks, so I floundered
around for a few years. I put my art history degree to use during a brief stint at the Museum of
Photographic Arts.
In 1990 I formed Writeline Associates, a freelance writing business, to apply my finance experience
to the academic and corporate arenas. Since then I’ve collaborated with authors and publishers on
numerous college and graduate-level business textbooks and related educational materials and
provided corporate communication services in finance, marketing, and technology to units of
Deloitte & Touche LLP. After many years as a ghostwriter for others, I will at last see my name on
the cover as co-author of an entrepreneurship textbook that comes out in 2008.
The flexibility of freelancing allowed me to stay involved in Rebecca’s life. It isn’t perfect—too
solitary for a people person like me—but worked out well overall, and volunteer activities at
Rebecca’s school and elsewhere provided the balance I needed. For Smith College I’ve been a class
officer and Alumnae Admissions Coordinator for San Diego for many years, as well as the local club
president. Currently I am the West Coast regional chair for the Network of Alumnae Admissions
Coordinators. I’m also active in our synagogue, serving on the board. Recently I was elected to the
national board of the Jewish Reconstructionist Association, of which our synagogue is a member.
Recreational Activities/Hobbies/Clubs: Too many interests, too little time…Two book clubs provide
U U
stimulating discussions and wonderful friendships. Cooking is another passion; I’m always trying
new recipes. I enjoy knitting, creating sweaters and toys for the grandkids and gifts for friends. At
some point I’d like to take piano lessons again. I spend way too much time at the computer on
email and Web stuff
Don and I love to travel and hope to see more of the world now that we have time. In addition to
frequent trips to the East Coast to see the kids, we’ve been to Tahiti, Southeast Asia, and China in
recent years. In most years we’ve taken family vacations, renting houses to bring together all the
kids and now grandkids. Last April we were in Jamaica, which was great fun despite my being
sidelined with a broken ankle.

BELLAMY (cont’d)
Best HHS memory: Mr. Russell throwing the geometry books down the aisles between the desks
the first day of class, and his in-your-face teaching style
Favorite teacher: probably Mr. Sullivan, although Mr. Russell grew on me by the end of geometry
class, and also during Math 12x—which was the last math class I ever took until a short unit on
calculus and statistics in business school.
I was sorry to miss reunion, because I enjoyed our 20th and 30th very much. I look forward to
seeing everyone at our 45th.
How have I changed since high school? I’m no longer that studious, serious girl with the
perfectionist streak. Over the years I’ve developed a healthier outlook on life—and even a sense of
humor! I’ve learned to lighten up and worry less, to be more flexible and flow with whatever comes
my way. Needless to say, I’m much happier and enjoy life more.
San Diego—our home since 1986—has been good for me. After living for 16 years in Boston
and then Westchester County, the move West was very stressful. Don is originally from California,
so he was happy to return. It took a while to settle in, much longer than our other moves. But now
I wouldn’t live anywhere else.
Our daughter Rebecca headed east to college, graduating magna cum laude from the
University of Pennsylvania in 2005 with a double major in political science and history. An
internship at the 2004 Republican National Convention led to jobs in Washington DC, first for the
Republican Governors’ Association and then at the White House as a presidential scheduler. She
recently returned home for a few months to regroup and figure out what is next. Her plans include
business school in a few years, so she is studying for the graduate management admissions test
while she looks for a job in the nonprofit sector or politics. We’ve enjoyed having her home but
odds are she will head back to DC; as I write this she is in the middle of job interviews there.
My dad died in 2003, and in 2006 Mom moved to San Diego to be near us. It was quite a
transition, after 54 years in Hudson. She’s adjusted well and we’re enjoying our mother-daughter
outings.
As 2007 winds down, Don and I are trying to age gracefully, staying active, healthy, and
young at heart. We enjoy life in San Diego as empty nesters, still working but scaling back and
looking forward to eventually retiring. We cherish our family and feel blessed that our kids are very
close despite the age difference and geographical distance.

HHS Memory - Mr. Sullivan’s crazy radiator jumping antics and Mr. Ross’s study hall techniques are
still unforgettable after 40 years.
I guess that after 40 years I most enjoy recalling specific events or happenings during my
adolescence that (apparently) were worth remembering since (at times) they are as clear as if they
had occurred yesterday. My decision to become a school counselor is based on the feelings,
needs, wants and desires I had growing up in Hudson and the absence of a school counselor at
HHS that might have made my early adolescence a little easier to comprehend. I was quiet and
withdrawn because I was unsure, apprehensive and awkward as a teenager. In truth, I hated high
school for those very reasons but (ironically) devoted 33 years to make it easier for the others that
followed.

What else would you like your classmates to know? I don’t have as many memories of HHS as I
U U
would like as my focus was on my life outside of school – cutting school to hang out at Bard
College or with my boyfriend, “Moose.” Although some of my rough edges have been worn away
by the realities of adulthood, for better or worse, I haven’t changed.
*Favorite HHS teacher – Mr. Hershfield, even though he charged me 75 cents for writing “Moose”
on the side of my history book. (I paid it in pennies.) Also, Mr. Sullivan, for stimulating English
classes, Charlatans & Thespians, and all the personal time he devoted to his students.
*Best HHS Memory – Mr. Sullivan driving us to an evening speech competition (VFW?, Livingston?,
Motto?).
*Classmate Memories – Several Saturdays with Teppy Brooks driving the 2 of us to the Sterling &
Francine Clarke Art Institute in Williamstown MA with a stop at Friendly’s for ice cream afterward.
Walking the halls before classes began and spending time with Jeanne Wolfe, Merry Van Denburgh,
Christa Patton, Cathie Kane, Marlene Bellamy, Mary Cordato, Sharon Kavanaugh, Mary Porreca,
and others.
*Song – Anything by Bob Dylan. See, I told you I haven’t changed.

U U
*Favorite HHS teacher - Without doubt, was Mildred Better. Second best would have been David
DeWitt in music.
*Classmate Memories - I remember Carolyn Schunk for her quiet disposition and loyal friendship.
Larry Finger would go out of his way to help a friend. Katrina Nicke played a great game of tennis.
*Since HHS - I continued to play french horn after high school with an orchestra until a few years
ago. I've been active with youth groups at the church and library and also with elder care. I
helped organize and led a Cloverbud 4-H team the first few years the 5-9 yr olds were included.
*Important Events - I survived a major car accident 1/15/06 and was blessed with full recovery
within a few months. You really do look at your life through different eyes afterward.
With the exception of my children and grandchildren, the one event that meant the most to me
was when my youngest son surprised me in 2003 with a weekend get away to Chicago. He had
arranged for family and friends to check on his dad. We flew out of Albany on Sat. am. He had
very good seats for the Chicago Symphony and a great dinner reservation. We took in the sights,
spent priceless quality time together and flew home Sun. pm. It was incredible!
*My message to this reunion: Live life to the fullest, laugh often and love with all your heart. Life
is too precious to do anything less.

What else would you like your classmates to know? There were lots of good times at HHS! The
fun times – being a cheerleader, getting to go to all the football and basketball games with a great
group of girls! Oh, and senior year lunch period with Donna (Carle), Jim Drivas and Skip Edgley -
what a riot – lots of laughs!! (Do you guys remember?)
I left Hudson in 1978, moving to Omaha, Nebraska because of my husband’s job, which
then took us to Pennsylvania and finally to Winston-Salem, North Carolina. We’ve been here since
1983. I went to work in 1984 as an Administrative Assistant at a Catholic high school where our
daughters were, but quit in 1991. What a working career!
Our first grandchild was born in 1993 and I’ve been on the go with all six now! We’re
always off to their games or activities which are many! I’m a very family-oriented person so they
mean a lot to me and we all do a lot together.
I always look forward to our class reunions and love seeing and talking to all!

*Favorite HHS teachers – Mr. Lee, Mr. Sullivan, Mr. Deuterman, Mrs. Ketz.
*Best HHS Memories - Teppy & I grew up together in Claverack. I didn’t know anyone in Hudson
or Hudson High. She did through her temple. So, she introduced me to Marlene, Gary, Sondra,
Stephanie & David. I think it was Sondra who nicknamed me Nickebaum. We had a good time.
They were great friends. Paul Twardy & I laughed a lot & went to a junior dance. Paul, you’re
terrific! Motto & I would sit on his porch & talk about the future. He’d have his pipe. He
introduced me to the “lower Greeks” & St. Mary’s kids. I was impressed that when we went for ice
cream, he said, “Put it on my tab.” Wow, what a guy! So cosmopolitan, I thought. And Nancy, I
don’t know who has the record for erasers thrown at them in Geometry class … was it you or me?
We sat next to each other for moral support & protection from Mr. Russell.
*Song - “My Boyfriend’s Back” – we used to sing this in the bus going to & from field hockey
games.
*My message to this reunion: “We went through a passage of life together. I have many
memories we share. Best wishes always to you & your families.”

Spouse: I married Dr. Elijah Muthengi Mukuni in Kenya in 1975. He was a Math Professor at
Kenyatta University. We first met at SUNY/A in 1972. He was working on his PhD while I was
completing my M.Sc. Dr. Mukuni passed away in 1995.
Child: Jeremiah (m, 29), born in Kenya.
Education: I spent my most memorable school years in Hudson. Unfortunately my family moved
to Selkirk in July, 1964. I completed high school at RCS in Ravena in 1966. I don't think I ever got
used to riding a school bus everyday.
College: Central College, Pella, Iowa B.A. Elem. Ed. 1970; SUNY/A M.Sc. Curriculum Planning
1972; SUNY/A M.Sc. Reading 1986.
Career: NYS Dept. of Corrections; retired; I still teach a few hours a week for BOCES.
Recreational Activities/Clubs: I spend most of my time traveling or planning my next trip. Odd as
it seems, I enjoy traveling alone and meet great friends along the way. I also enjoy playing Bridge.
Since 1966: How does one cover all these bygone years? I left HHS for RCS HS in Ravena
following my sophomore year. Going from "street wise" to "country bumpkin" was a huge
adjustment. I regret having lost contact with my HHS classmates.
When I think of the teachers we had……Miss Simon, the Latin teacher, will always be
remembered. Paul Twardy and I walked to her house and took her a small pin from Scovells Gift
Shop the day she retired. She always had problems with her slipping bra strap, remember?
Mildred Better, the English teacher, tops my list of favorites. Oddly, I seemed to get A's from her
despite my despicable class behavior. Later on, I found out my Father had dated her when he got
home from WWII and returned to Hudson High School as a Senior. She must have liked my Father
a whole lot!!
Worst of all, for the life of me, I couldn’t pass the world history regents in high school. I
took it for the third time at RCS H.S. where they blessed me with a 65. I never really excelled in
high school. Getting just 70's were fine with me! And to think I became a teacher despite the
guidance counselors' warnings that I'd never get into college. I fooled a lot of folks. College was a
whole different ballgame for me.
I suppose my biggest claim to fame was my decision to stay in Africa for 10 years. I
married a Nairobi University Math professor and we had one son. I simply loved Kenya and
Lesotho, but I knew that for the sake of my son's education I needed to restart a life in the
U.S. So, back to Selkirk I headed and that's where I've been since 1985.
Teaching positions were very difficult to get in '85. So I ended up serving a 20+ year
prison "sentence" as an adult education teacher. The truth is I thoroughly enjoyed it.
I continue to love to travel. When I was much younger, I volunteered to work with disadvantaged
youth in northern Saskatchewan and Merida, Yucatan. I have traveled to Europe many times and
the Caribbean, especially the Cayman Islands where I have a wonderful friend that I visit. My
husband died in '95 in Kenya so my son and I went back to pay our final respects. Things have
changed so drastically in Kenya that I don't know if I will ever have the desire to return again.
I retired about a year ago to help care for my Father who soon passed away.
Fortunately I had previous teaching experience from the 70's and was a Tier One. God is
good!! And retirement is a wonderful thing!! I still dabble a few hours a week teaching
recovering (and relapsing) alcoholics who are over 35 years old. It’s fun work. They also have
such great stories to tell about their lives.
I hope to see everyone on Sept. 29th.

Spouse: William Foehrenbach, teaches history in New York (South Bronx); originally from New
York City area, met in Albany when I roomed with his sister, married in 1975.
Child: James Jordan Foehrenbach (22); just graduated Ursinus College.
What I’ve been doing since 1966: After graduating in 1966, I went to Albany State. Graduated in 1970.
Met my husband (Will) after college and moved to Greenwich Village in New York City.
Worked for a magazine publisher, then a small advertising agency and joined a human resource consulting
firm (Towers Perrin) in 1976 – and have been there ever since. I’ve worn a lot of different hats over the last
30 years, but now I’m heading Internal Communications for TP.
Before my son came along 22 years ago, we used to do a lot of traveling – took vacations in Spain and Italy,
hiked on Macchu Picchu, swam in the Amazon in Peru and traveled all over Mexico. After James was born,
we bought a house in Austerlitz – not far from Chatham. We used to come every single weekend, until my
son decided he wanted to spend the weekend with his friends more than he wanted to come to the country
with his parents. Now Will and I come as many weekends as we can, especially in the summer and fall, but
not nearly as regularly as we used to. My mom, brothers and lots of cousins are still in the area too.
I still live in downtown New York (Soho) and do a reverse commute every day to Stamford Connecticut to
work, which I’m getting really tired of and so am thinking more and more about retiring next year. Can’t
wait!
My sister Kathy and brother Joey both attended HHS. Kathy married Steve Gaudio (also from Hudson) and
they have 3 daughters and two grandchildren. My brother Joey lives in Philmont with his wife Anne and two
daughters, Hope and Julie. My brother Richard married Melissa Folmsbee, had four kids and they are running
the family farm.
Recreational Activities/Hobbies: I’m (still) a voracious reader and spend a lot of time in the 19th century,
P P
especially with Jane Austen, Anthony Trollope, Charles Dickens, George Eliot, etc. Am also a big fan of
William Faulkner, Thomas Wolfe along with lots of other Southern writers and contemporary favorites include
Mario Vargas-Lllosa, Isabelle Allende, Martin Amis and Amy Tan.
I used to do a lot of photography, but it came to a halt when my favorite camera was stolen and my son was
born, just around the same time. Am looking forward to doing more once pace of work/life slows.
I also do a lot of gardening. When we bought our house in Austerlitz there was barely a tree or flower on the
property. We plant and weed, weed and plant. I also find enormous pleasure in “lazy man’s birdwatching” –
sitting on my porch and watching to see what new birds will show up at the feeder.
What else would you like your classmates to know?
*Favorite HHS teacher - Without a doubt, my favorite and most memorable teacher was Mr Sullivan. He was
incredible. I remember when a movie was made of the La Boehme and for three weeks before it came to the
theatre in Hudson, he had us rotely copying vocabulary words while the music played in the background. At
first, nearly everyone complained about the music but by the end of the session, we all missed it. That was
my first introduction to Opera. I also very fondly remember Miss Simon and three years of Latin. And her
incessant correction of our beginning questions with “how come” and not “why.”
*Other memories: Field hockey, Antlers, photography club, hall monitoring, Mr. Ross’ study halls, Mr. Mull’s
trig.
*Songs? Twist and Shout, lots of Aretha Franklin, any Rolling Stones – good dance music!!!*Would love to
see everyone! Will especially miss Eddie Sherbin. Sherbin/Skoda sat next to each other in virtually every
class for four years.

Spouse/Companion: Not married, no companion.
Education: Siena College, Loudonville NY; B.A. English 1970.
Career: Retired in 2006 from the New York State Legislature after 27 years of combined service
in the Senate and Assembly. For seven years (1985-1992) I was director of alumni relations at
Siena College.
At retirement I was director of production services for the Republican conference in the Assembly.
I supervised a staff of 11 individuals who were responsible for the creation and dissemination of
printed communication to constituents and the media, as well as the Web. I started as editor, was
promoted to senior editor, then director.
Recreational Activities: I’m not sure I would call the present “free time” because like everything in
life, it came at a price. I am free of a job overshadowed by persons who, more often than not,
made their self-interests their priorities, the public be damned. No wonder New York state
government is in such a mess. In the meantime, I have put to very good use a former hobby --
gardening. I now supplement my income as a gardener, designing and installing home gardens. I
find great satisfaction in the creativity of this new employment, and appreciate the physical activity
of it, too. Stress is something I no longer take home at the end of the day, only the knowledge of
something alive and beautiful that brings happiness. An aching back and muscles heal much faster
than a troubled mind. Ironic that my blue collar background is the source of well being at this
stage of my life. I continue to enjoy a life-long interest in art history, architecture and the arts
today, and incorporate chances to witness these things as much as I can.
What else would you like your classmates to know? As one of the planners for this reunion, I have
spent much time reviewing names and addresses and photos of all our classmates, a big, open
window to my – our – past, and for the most part I like what I see. Before I get too sentimental let
me say up front I do not recall all four years as happy, happy days. Like everyone else, I had my
share of trauma, rejection, disappointment and disillusion. But I think we got a good education in
an atmosphere that was quintessentially American in a town that has a long, rich history in a place
in the American landscape that is amazingly beautiful. As you read through this directory, just
look at the educational and career achievements of our classmates. They are as broad and
remarkable as can be. I think those who still live in Hudson and the immediate area (Albany is
close, but not right there) have such an advantage of experiencing Hudson’s metamorphosis into
another kind of vibrant and multi-faceted place that is still our home because we are the fabric of
the community. However many times I hear that Hudson has been recreated, I still say to myself,
“Ah, but you have no idea what it really was like.”
What do I remember? I remember Mr. White refusing to speak to me for weeks after I
chose Siena over New Paltz, his alma mater, and a career in English, not art. I remember sitting in
the cafeteria with friends and remarking that the date was June 6, 1966. Being a hall monitor.
Night football games and the advice from an upperclassman that it was OK to drive home at night
without a parent (my father died that year and Mom didn’t drive) so I could go to the game. Mrs.
Huddleston’s history class – interminably boring – only to think back and realize she had some
good things to say, She and her husband dancing at the prom. (Who knew they could move like
that?) Sitting in an auditorium with plush seats and chandeliers (decor so not like home).
Released-time instruction at St. Mary’s on Tuesdays, piling into my car with friends and getting to
class, and realizing I was probably the only one of my group taking it seriously. Then off to The
Greeks for sodas and lots of laughter.
And lately this: In reading through the Blue and Gold ’66 and the expressions of “best
wishes to a “swell’ guy and the other generalities, I have discovered the sincere expressions of
those who took the time to say something meaningful, and you know what? they are still my
friends today.

- Management 1991
Career/Volunteering: Mechanical Engineer - retirement? - the next 2-6 years, still building that nest egg.
Volunteer activity - serving on committees at church, singing in choir, singing in a Gospel group both at our
church and out and about.
Recreational Activities/Clubs: Spend time with my children and grandchildren; golf as much as possible;
sing bass in a Gospel group.
Since 1966: After graduation, I worked the following Summer in construction until I received my 1 A
classification for the draft. I decided to join the Navy. Went to boot camp 2 days after Christmas ‘66. Upon
graduating from boot camp, I was sent to NAS Jacksonville FL for training as an Aviation Electricians Mate.
From there I was stationed at NAS Miramar, San Diego CA. Served with Fighter Squadron 161 making 3
cruises aboard the aircraft carrier USS Coral Sea to Viet Nam and Korea. Was honorably discharged in Sept
‘70. That same month I entered college at Grossmont Community College in EI Cajon CA. During that first
year of school I met my wife to be. She was living in an apartment below 2 of my Navy buddies which I still
saw regularly. Brenda and I got married between my first and second year of school. She already had her
BSN from the Univ. of MO. After receiving my AS degree in Technical Illustration, I went to work for the Navy
as a civilian at NAS North Island, San Diego working as an Aircraft Electrical Worker upgrading F4B Phantoms
to F4Ns. After 2 yrs there, fed up with the government system, I quit. Brenda and I moved to Columbia MO,
35 miles from her home town. I started working as a model maker for McGraw-Edison Co, who’s now known
as Toastmaster. I ended up in Engineering as a drafter working on power tools. Eventually, the power tool
business was purchased by Shopsmith, Inc. Two years later we were transferred to Dayton OH, headquarters
for Shopsmith. I was promoted to Senior Product Engineer responsible for the entire product line. After 4
years in OH, I received a call from Electrolux Corp in Bristol VA asking if I'd like to come for an interview.
(They found out about me from a friend who was a director at E’lux.) I went on the interview an accepted the
job that weekend. I must admit the mountains here in SW VA remind me of the Catskills and Berkshires. I
served E’lux first as a Senior Product Designer, then Senior Product Eng, Interim Director of Engineering, then
Product Engineering Manager, after a cut of middle management, back to Senior Product Eng. After 18yrs
with the company and a name change to Aerus Electrolux, they closed the plant and sent the production to EI
Paso TX, to which I made several trips to show them how to build the product. I was out of work for 14
months, during which time I was "retrained" as a Home Inspector for real estate transactions. It was a tough
business to make a living so I kept looking for an engineering position and eventually found one in Piney Flats
TN, 35 miles from home. I am currently working as an engineer at a reverse engineering firm designing parts
for commercial airlines, Boeing, Airbus, Bombardier, etc. This company was just bought out in August, so the
future is unknown. I certainly am looking forward to retirement and lots of golf, something that my brother
Cal, who still lives in Hudson, and I do every time we're together.
Sorry I can't be there, but all have a good time.
What else would you like your classmates to know? *My favorite time at HHS was running track. I just
could never beat Klugo. It was great handing off the batan to my brother in the Medley Relay.
*How have I changed? Older fatter grayer, but I still have hair!
*What I have been doing - My wife and I love to travel. I've made several trips to Taiwan and China for my
previous job; scary how much is being manufactured there. Four of my Navy buddies and I meet every few
years for a reunion. There is a relationship no one understands unless you have been there. Thank God for
them.
My message to this reunion: I'd never want to go through it again. Have a great time!!!
