Fifth Grade
Fifth grade students have explored life in the New England and Middle Colonies. To
culminate the unit on Colonial America, students will investigate life on a southern
colonial plantation.

Take the quiz to see what you already know about plantation life and then explore
overview of a plantation’s lay out.
1. Take the quiz.
2. Read about plantation (click on the plantation picture to get the information).
3. Click on plantation to see different parts/place (the arrow will turn to a hand icon when
you are able to click on the plantation).
4. List the different places you visit on the plantation (places that pop-up) in your travel
journal.
5. When you visit the overseer’s house, copy and paste (Ctrl+C) the description into your
travel journal.
6. Copy and paste (Ctrl+C) the picture of the plantation as evidence of visiting a southern
plantation.
