Margaret Walker
Piano
Margaret Walker holds ARCT diplomas in Piano Performance and Teaching, and an Orff Certificate
from The Royal Conservatory of Music and is a graduate of the RCM Artist-Teacher programme. She
received a Licentiate diploma in Piano Performance from Trinity College of Music, London, England, a
Bachelor of Music in Education and a Master of Arts in Musicology and a Doctor of Philosophy in
Ethnomusicology from the University of Toronto. Her Doctoral thesis explored the history of classical
dance in North India. Dr. Walker's piano teachers include Leslie Kinton, Andrew Markow, and James
Anagnoson and she also has training in Dalcroze, Kodaly and music in early childhood.
Dr. Walker was a faculty member of The Royal Conservatory of Music between 1989 and 2000, and
currently maintains a private studio in Barrie. She is also active as an adjudicator and a workshop
clinician, and has had several articles published in scholarly journals.
