*Here are CAI Environmental Committee's top 10 New Year's Resolutions:*
1) I will take time off from road rage and carpool, take mass transit, ride a bike or walk at least once a
week.
2) I will give up my addiction to plastic and take re-usable shopping bags with me wherever I go.
3) I will give up my addiction to plastic and purchase a re-usable refill-safe water bottle that I can fill
with my own filtered water.
4) I will unplug my appliances and chargers when they are not in use, and I will keep my
programmable thermostat one or two degrees lower and opt instead for a blanket or sweater for
warmth.
5) I will buy less so I will waste less, and I will buy items with less packaging.
6) I will switch to recycled paper products in my home and at work, I will cut the junk mail, and I will
aim to go paperless whenever possible.
7) I will support local agriculture by purchasing locally grown produce, joining a co-op and shopping at
farmers markets.
8) I will Reduce, Re-Use and I will learn to Recycle something new so that things can be disposed of
correctly (helpful hint: The Re-Directory at www.agudath.org/env_guide.pdf is a great guide for Re-
Use and Recycling).
9) I will save money by investing in energy efficient appliances and CFL'S, turning off lights, fixing
leaky faucets, switching from chemical cleaners to homemade baking soda/vinegar combos, and
making my own lunch and dinners instead of ordering take-out
10) I will get involved in an environmental charity or organization (the CAI Environmental Committee
is convenient and always looking for people who want to make an eco-friendly difference). Choose the
resolutions that work for you and take steps in 2009 toward healing the planet. Best wishes for a green
