Mrs. Fields' Chocolate Chip Cookies (Or so they say)
Prep Time: 15 minutes Cook Time: 9-10 minutes Yield: 17 cookies
1/4 Ib (1 stick) unsalted butter
1/2 cup granulated sugar
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
1/4 tsp salt
6 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
2 oz grated milk chocolate bar (such as Hershey)
1 egg
3/4 to 1 cup all purpose flour (less flour = softer cookie)
1 1/4 cup rolled oats
3/4 cup walnuts-toasted
Preheat oven to 3500 F. Place Silpat(r) or line cookie sheet with parchment.
Using the steel blade pf a food processor, mix oatmeal, flour, salt, baking powder and baking soda in food
processor until it is powder-like.
In a separate bowl, cream sugar, butter, egg and vanilla. Add nuts and chocolate chips and mix. Roll into
golf-ball sized cookies or use a #20 scoop, placed 2" apart on cookie sheet, and flattened with spatula. Bake
9-10 min until tops slightly blonde. Cool on wire rack.
