BOOK REPORT - Create a Wanted Poster:

(I handed out colored pages for the final version of the posters)

I showed them an example of a "wanted"
poster http://www.mandymag.com/2006/10/29/make-your-own-wanted-poster/

I told them to choose a character from the book they read for their wanted poster. It
doesn't have to be a crime that the character committed, but it could be some kind of
fault, inadequacy, failing, or shortcoming. One boy asked if he could choose the
author of the book and I said yes (I think that's a wonderful idea!)

At the top of the poster:
    Name of main character
 Description of what the character is “wanted” for (the trait) (20 points)
 Three examples of the character showing this trait. (30 points)
    Amount of reward
You may include a graphic

At the bottom of the poster:
   1. The title
   2. Author
   3. Two sentences about the setting of the book (geographical, historical, political,
      or social)
   4. Two sentences about the theme of the book (the idea the author is trying to
      convey)

Grading rubric:
Content 50
Language 20

Vocabulary 10
Creativity 5
Total 100

I received positive feedback from the pupils, who seemed to enjoy the activity.
I hope other teachers can use this idea.
