BACON TO SERVE AS CHAIRMAN OF SENATE INSURANCE COMMITTEE
Also selected to serve on the influential Finance Committee
COLUMBUS— State Senator Kevin Bacon (R- Village of Minerva Park) today announced he
has been named chairman of the Senate Insurance, Commerce and Labor Committee by Senate
President Tom Niehaus (R- New Richmond). In this role, Bacon will work with committee
members to provide Ohioans with access to affordable health insurance, maintain protections for
consumers and ensure business practices are applied equally and fairly throughout the state. The
committee also conducts hearings on the budgets of the Ohio Bureau of Workers’ Compensation
and the Ohio Industrial Commission.
“As Ohio seeks to improve its business environment in order to encourage economic growth and
job creation, the work of the Insurance, Commerce and Labor Committee will be crucial,” Bacon
said. “There are a number of important decisions that will need to be made in the coming
months, and I look forward to examining the issues with my colleagues so that we can make the
best possible choices for Ohio.”
Additionally, Bacon was also named to the powerful Senate Finance Committee, which will soon
begin discussions on the state’s two-year budget, as well as the Financial Institutions Committee
and the Ways & Means and Economic Development Committee.
“Balancing Ohio’s budget and getting our economy back on track are top priorities for my
constituents, and I am honored to sit on these committees as it gives me the opportunity to make
sure the concerns and opinions of the 3rd Ohio Senate District are heard as we discuss bills and
enact policy,” Bacon said.
