Christmas Gift Exchange

Miller School Christmas Musical Our school Christmas Musical this year is entitled, “40 Winks till Christmas”. Mrs. Kitch and Miss Boake will be co-directing. Dress Rehearsal – Dec. 10th(10:00 a.m.) Christmas Concert – Dec. 10th (7:00 p.m.) After the musical everyone is invited to stay for coffee/juice and Christmas goodies. Costumes: All Miller students must wear clean PJ’s for the Christmas musical unless a note from Mrs. Kitch is sent home in the student agenda. your child as this is a wonderful opportunity to have fun, practice skills or learn how to skate. Dates: Dec. 12 & 18 Jan. 9 & 23 Feb. 5 All times are from 1:00-2:00 p.m. at the Melville Stadium. We have some helmets and skates if anyone needs to borrow them for this season. All students require a helmet to be worn on the ice. Peace Wreath Christmas Gift Exchange Miller students will take part in an in-class gift exchange. Letters will be sent as to when and how each class will participate. All gifts should be approximately $10.00. As in the past, we will again have a draw for the Peace Wreath. Each Miller family’s name will be entered and the draw will be made at the concert on Wednesday, December 10th. To decorate the wreath, we would appreciate if each Miller family would contribute one Christmas ornament. Please have you son/daughter bring the decoration to school as soon as possible. School Skating Our school will be going skating to the Stadium thanks to Melville Minor Hockey. Please try to find skates and a helmet for Library Books All library books are required to be brought back to the Library by Friday, December 12th. Students who bring back their books on time will have their name put in for a draw. Memory Books The 2007-2008 Miller Memory Book has now been handed out. We do have a few extra copies. The price is $10.00 and will be given on a first come basis. Library Consultant Last month we introduced Charlotte Raine, GSSD’s new school Library Consultant. She is here one day/6 day cycle. This is her role: To provide leadership in assisting principals and library personnel to develop effective school library programs that support student learning. To work with relevant departments and personnel to ensure that appropriate facilities support our libraries. To assist staff in designing instructional activities and to provide professional development. To provide consultative services to staff regarding use of technology and collection development. Many thanks… To all the students and families who canvassed for UNICEF. The school collected $498.00. Awesome! To the families who worked hard to make our fundraiser a success. The “Fa La La” catalogue provided many with the special gifts for the upcoming season. Our profit for this year is$3600.00. Our top fundraisers are: Zander JohnsonHollinger, Addison Klapak, Kris Gelowitz, John Stoll, Anthony Thompson, Katie Hulet, Jordan Nagy and Jasmine Suwala. These students were presented a theater pass and special sunglasses during Reading Buddies. To Mrs. Miles for binding the Memory Books. To Mrs. Mucha and Mrs. Sylvester who volunteered on the Grade 1/2 trip to St. Paul’s Lutheran Home. To the Grade 2/3 parent volunteers for the Parent Reading Program: Mrs. Cook, Mrs. Thompson To Mrs. Sass for donating puzzles for those rainy days. To Ms. Cloutier for her decorating of the Miller Memory Case. School Community Council Annual General Meeting Thank you to all parents who attended the School Community Council Annual General Meeting on Monday, November 17th. Thank you also to Marian Kreiser, our GSSD board member for her attendance. Thank you also to previous members and to the new SCC members for attending. “Bag It” Program Thanks a million from the “Bag it!” committee for the $40.00 in donations for bags that were sent home. WOW! The money will be used for school projects. Congratulations… To Jasmine Mucha for her name being drawn in the Nov. Newsletter draw. She was our interm School/Family Resource worker. Mrs. Decelles has taken a postion in Yorkton and we wish her all the best. Mrs. Martinook is now back from her medical leave.
