The J. Anthony Brown Suit Collection was born of Mr. Brown’s lifelong passion; designing clothes. Long before J. Anthony Brown considered doing comedy, the South Carolina native was pursuing a career as a clothing designer and tailor. It was only after he was short tuition money for college, visited a local club and entered a gong show contest. The aspiring designer and tailor was asked back to the venue and later transformed it into a city hot spot as word of his natural wit traveled quickly. While enjoying a successful comedy, radio and acting career, J. Anthony Brown continued to pursue his passion for designing. Most people do not know that the many two-piece, suits and vests J. Anthony Brown wears while touring the country doing standup comedy or performing on television shows such as Tom Joyner, Def Jam or Showtime at the Apollo are clothes that he designed. Arsenio Hall once supported J. Anthony Brown by wearing a tailor made vest designed specifically for him on the Arsenio Hall Show. Today, J. Anthony Brown is not just designing for himself or a few celebrity friends like Comedian George Wallace, R&B singer Bobby Brown, Bishop Blake of West Angeles Church, R& B singing sensation "Meant To Be" group out of Houston, Texas, or Dr. Bobby Jones of BET, but he is designing for men from every walk of life.
