The Los Angeles Minority Business Opportunity Center (LA MBOC) is a free service providing business development services to minority firms. LA MBOC is a U. S. Department of Commerce grant-funded under the direction of the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA), operated by the City of Los Angeles Mayor’s Office. MBDA is the only federal agency created specifically to foster the establishment and growth of minority-owned business in America. MBDA is an entrepreneurially focused and innovative organization committed to wealth creation in minority communities.
WHO DOES MBOC SERVE
The MBDA requires minority business become clients of LA MBOC to receive its services. The following groups are considered minorities, according to the MBDA: African American Aleut Asian American Asian Indian Asian Pacific American Eskimo Hasidic Jew Hispanic American Native American Puerto Rican
LA MBOC SERVICES AND REFERAL INFORMATION
Contract and Procurement LA MBOC works with a network of public and private sector partners to connect our clients to a vast resource of business opportunities including the Los Angeles Business Assistance Virtual Network website www.labavn.org and the Minority Business Development Agency website www.mbda.org. Capital Access LA MBOC has a vast resource of financial partners that provide access to capital to meet our clients’ business needs. Technical & Other Support LA MBOC refers firms to business development agencies and departments for provide technical support services that we do not provide. Certification and Bonding & Insurance Certification – disadvantaged, minority and/or woman business enterprises (DBE/MBE/WBE) become certified to have greater access to compete and/or participate in local and federally funded contracts. Bonding and insurance are encouraged for the purpose of limiting your professional liability and is required for many public and private sector contracts.

The undersigned business owner or authorized agent (client) has requested assistance regarding contracting opportunities and assistance regarding access to capital to be provided by the Los Angeles Minority Business Opportunity Center, operated by the City of Los Angeles, Mayor’s Office of Housing and Economic Development, and funded by the U.S. Department of Commerce, Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) Client understands that the services provided by LA MBOC are recommendations only and are not intended as an express or implied warranty or guaranty that such services will result in profit or any other determinate result for the client. Client hereby waives any and all right of action against LA MBOC, and/or the City of Los Angeles regarding the results of any of the services performed or provided to client. In the event that any client, any employee, agent or associate of client, or any third party should bring legal action against LA MBOC and/or the City of Los Angeles, client agrees to indemnify and hold LA MBOC and/or the City of Los Angeles harmless against such action, including the payment of any cost and/or attorney’s fees which may be incurred herein. Client understands that LA MBOC will hold proprietary information disclosed to LA MBOC in the course of the above referenced services confidential and will not disclose the same to a third party without the permission of client or a court order. LA MBOC neither assumes nor will assume liability for performing any services within the estimated period.
