Quitman,Ga.-The event will take place at Southwind Quail and Shooting
Clays Course in Brooks County.
Proceeds from this tournament will benefit the Scouting program in the 12
South Central Georgia counties served by the Alapaha Area Council.
Local Support of Scouting is Important
Come out for a great day of fun, and help support the Scouting program in
the 12 counties served by the Alapaha Area Council.
Successful events like the Sporting Clays Tournament will provide needed
funds for the Alapaha Area Council as it supports hundreds of volunteers
who deliver the promise of Scouting to thousands of Cub Scouts, Boy
Scouts and Venturers across southern central Georgia.

ing will grow and thrive in our 12 surrounding counties through program

There will be a 50 round shoot beginning at 8:00 am, with breakfast, lunch,

Clay shooting tips by 2 previous state clay shoot champions along with

It was just a few generations ago that washing and drying clothes was a

Alapaha Area Scouts attend National Scout Jamboree

have experienced before. The lakes on the base are
used for sailing, kayaking, rowing and fishing.
Arena shows bring all 46,000 Boy Scouts, lead-
ers, staff and volunteers together to hear speakers
and see special performances. Tuesday, the group
was treated to a performance by Miss America and
listened to the two millionth Eagle Scout talk about
his scouting experience.
Patch trading is an ongoing activity. Scouts trade
their Alapaha Area patches for patches from all
over the country and world. Trading gives the
scouts a chance to interact with scouts they may
never have spoken to otherwise.
The scouts are keeping busy and having a great
time. “There is so much to do, I don’t think I will
get it all done in ten days,” said David Stokes.
Sam Bennett commented, “I am going back to the
four story repelling tower. It is really cool.”
