Summer Programs:
The children had a very busy summer, filling their time with water play activities, picnic lunches, beach
days, and special visitor Critters.
The toddler program watched their garden grow and benefitting from all the vegetables they were able to
The Kindergarten and School Age Program had a Safari ride and Splash World at African Lion Safari,
Centre Island Ferry Boat ride and explored some parks in their community.
The School Age program enjoyed fire station trip, bake sale, and ended the summer with a Talent show.

Good Byes / Welcome new families:
Sadly we say good bye to many of our children and family members who are now moving on. Best Wishes
to everyone in their new endeavors.
Welcome new children and families to YUCDC. During this transition, some children may need extra time
and special hugs to support their integration into the program. Please know with time, children will become
more comfortable and drop off will be easier.

School-Age Program: On Friday September 9th, 2011 we said good-bye to Marta who is going to pursuit
her teaching career. We wish Marta the very best and we will miss her talents and skills. Joining us is Ana
Gishti, who has been working with us all summer in all of our programs.

Welcome George Brown College ECE students:
We have 3rd placement students joining us for the next 7 weeks.

Summer Gear:
Now that the cooler mornings are here to stay, please make sure your child has a warm sweater/jacket for
outdoor play; rain gear (rain coat, boots) for those light wet days, as well as extra clothes in their cubbies.
Please note, it is a requirment in the Days Nursery Act (DNA) to go outside 1 hour in the morning and 1
hour in the afternoon.
Allergy Alert:
Please remember that YUCDC is a NUT-FREE environment. Please ensure that you do not bring any nut
products into the centre.

Birthday Celebrations
Keep it simple and “peanut free”. Ensure that all products have the (peanut free logo)

Canadian Tire Money and Penny Drive
We welcome your spare pennies and Canadian Tire money which will go towards program equipment.
There are two jars in the office to start our collections.

Door Entrance:
Many families are using the “front door” to buzz in. Please use the two side doors with “pad code” to enter
the centre. If you do not know the code, please ask the staff or office to help you in this matter.

Parent Participation:
Many new families need to sign up for “parent participation duty” as per Parent Agreement, 1 hour per
week is required. Please see office if you need a duty.

Centre Social Dinner: The Event Planning team is working on a Social Dinner event for early October.
Flyers will be posted soon. Any family or staff wanting to volunteer to help with this event, please contact
Grace (Makafui and Malike) mom.

    Fees are due on the first of the month. Please clear your account in full every month.
    Withdraw Policy: As per Parent Contract, please keep in mind that we require a 30 day written
      notice to withdraw your child/children from the Day Care Centre.

       Arrive on time: Please note that the centre closes at 6:00 pm. Please arrive on time. (late fee
        charge of $15.00 per 15 minutes or part thereof will apply)
