Security Team News by Bob Shuttleworth
I am continually amazed at the perseverance and dedication of the members of the security teams. All of
them have taken their work seriously and have been willing to spend extra time and effort not only to stand
guard on Sundays, but also to attend training sessions and extra meetings. We now have approximately 30
people involved in the security of FUMC.
John Mays, who originally started the security effort from scratch, was very instrumental in getting us
going in the right direction. Having both valuable team leaders continuing to guide their teams effectively
and the support of the church members has certainly been important.
Now, not only do we have team members at work on Sundays, but Terry Bivens who has a radio and a
vantage point from the balcony can contact us if something untoward happens in the late service. The nursery also is equipped
with a radio to provide an extra umbrella of safety for our children.
Thanks to Jim Weaver who has set a high standard for us to follow. And a large round of thanks goes to Dan and the staff at the
church for their support.
If any of you would like to become a team member, please call me, 664-5485. We will set up a training session and will get you
involved as soon as possible. We will continue to provide as high a level of security as possible at FUMC.
