S Whillans welcomed everyone to the meeting and

introduced Gillian Crozier, the Creative Industries and Sport

Faculty Board of Management member.



18/11 Minutes of Previous Meeting – Actions



Marketing for clients and customers for the restaurant and

salons, L Gilchrist to address this at induction. LG



Good housekeeping in salons. Students reported that this

is getting better.



Lack of hanging space for client coats in the salon.

P Hutchison is currently costing this. PH

Discount for Art & Design students. V MacDonald has

looked into this but no discounts are available unless

ordering in bulk and 10% would apply. L Gilchrist felt that

we should look at sourcing another supplier. VMacD



Salon security for straighteners, make up etc. P Hutchison PH

is investigating cost of installing security cameras in the

salon.



Print allowances for HNC Hairdressing. L Gilchrist has

spoken with C Nicholls, a report is available to students on

their desktop to show how much money is left.

L Gilchrist will include this in the student handbook. LG



Notice Boards for Student Rep information. L Gilchrist is

currently looking at this. Also 6 weekly class meetings will LG

be timed to feedback from the faculty council meeting.

20/11 Election of New Chair



A report was read out from Alana Galloway about her time

spent as Chair and also Scott Whillans spoke to the

meeting.



Natalie Donaldson (Beauty Therapy) put herself forward for

Chair and Alex Noble (Catering) agreed to take on the

position as Depute Chair.



21/11 Equality & Diversity



D Killean informed the meeting that the theme for next year

will be Gender and Sexuality. He will be working closely

with the Students Association and Mangers to organise

different events. The first event is scheduled for June, this

event is for staff and will be looking at gender based

violence alongside the Protection Unit at the Council.



Any ideas for future events should be passed to D Killean.



22/11 Health & Safety



There is a socket located on the floor in the kitchen which

is repeatedly being kicked. V MacDonald to contact VMacD

Facilities.



There are wires sticking out of a set of straighteners in the

Salon, it is thought these were put away whilst still hot.

This has been reproted.



23/11 Student Association



H Chisholm reported that the new President is Danny

Bennett , Care student and the Equalities Officer is Alex

Noble, Care student.



There are still some posts which have not yet been filled

within the Student Association.



The Student Association now has its own website ‘Tartan

Monkey’, (monkey suit has been purchased) this will be

launched after the summer. They also have their own

facebook page.



24/11 AOB

Canteen



The following issues were raised regarding the canteen

facilities:



 Not much food left from1.00 pm onwards

 No longer allowed to pre-order food

 Food too expensive

 Lack of variety

 Sandwiches not good

 Canteen shuts at 3.30 pm on a Friday

 Vending machines are broken

 Toaster in the canteen has been known to go on fire



D Killean asked students to complete the comment cards

with as much information as possible and a copy of the

minute will also be sent to P Smith to take to the next

Catering and Facilities meeting. KMcD









L Gilchrist thanked all the students for their input and

wished those students well that are not returning next

session.
