The Diocese is situated in the Western part of Nigeria and is about a two hour drive from Lagos. Originally part of
Ibadan Diocese it was inaugurated in 1993 and named after the River Osun and the word for hill – ‘Oke’. The
cathedral town is Gbongan which has a population of 20 000. The Diocese is noted for growing fruits. Bananas,
plantain, oranges, lemons and pineapples are some of those grown.
MU Worldwide President, Trish Heywood, visited the Diocese during her tour of Nigeria in August 2002.
