Advertising Data
Frequency Discounts: Frequency discounts are based on the number of insertions run in
a contract year. Spreads count as two insertions. Advertisers who increase their
frequency will be rebated; advertisers who cancel or fail to fulfill a contract will be billed
the difference between the earned rate and the contract rate.
Special Positioning: 10% additional charge for special position per page or fraction
thereof, subject to availability. All other ads accepted at run of book.
Colors: Rates for special inks are available on request.
Split Run: Consult your advertising sales representative for details, availability and rates.
Bleed: No charge for bleed on full-page ads.
Production Charges: All advertisements are expected to arrive camera-ready and must
conform to our regular schedule of advertising sizes (see Mechanical Requirements).
Advertisements needing adjustments of any kind will be subject to production charges.
Production charges are applicable on enlargements, reductions, strip-ins, halftones, type-
setting, etc. Charges for alterations are not commissionable. Plates, art mechanicals and/or
negatives (including color proofs) will be stored by the Publisher for 12 months and then
destroyed, unless otherwise requested in writing.
Inserts/Bind-In Cards: Sold only in conjunction with full-page advertisements.
Full-page space cost plus the bindery charges.
Payment Due Upon Receipt Of Invoice
Prepayment Requirement: Prepayment and a completed Active Interest Media credit
application are required for the first insertion from new advertisers and advertisers who
have not appeared in Vegetarian Times in the past two years. Advertisers from outside the
United States must prepay for all ad insertions. Exception: Advertisers who are using an
advertising agency or an agency that has qualified for credit from Active Interest Media.
Advertiser Address: An advertiser using a post office box number in an advertisement
must furnish publisher with a legal street address and telephone number.
Member: Audit Bureau of Circulations, Magazine Publishers of America
Agency Commission: 15% to recognized advertising agencies that provide
camera-ready material.
Production Services: Available at trade rates.
Please Note: Vegetarian Times reserves the right to make any changes to materials
that do not conform to mechanical requirements and specifications and will charge
accordingly. Ads that look like editorial content will be marked “advertisement” at the
