Tutorial topic: Working with additional audio tracks for theme Music
This tutorial will show you where to find music that you can use in your podcast, and
how to import and edit it in Audacity.
1. First, find your music. There are many places online that offer free sounds and
music. I use FreeSound in this tutorial. Once you’ve found your music, download
it to your computer. At this point, it doesn’t matter if it is a WAV or MP3 file.
2. To add the file to your Audacity project, go to Project Import Audio. This will
add a new track automatically.
3. You may want to have your audio file place for about 10 seconds before your
original audio file plays. One way to do this is to select some silence in your
audio track and just paste it in over and over again until you have the amount of
silence you want. Warning: Do not use the Generate Silence tool in Audacity
unless you want to add silence to ALL of your audio tracks.
4. From here, you can use the “Fade in” or “Fade out” tools you learned about
through the last tutorial. To get your music to fade out, select the part you want to
fade out, and go to Effect Fade out.
5. If you want to add music to the end, follow this same process. So, import the file,
add silence to the new file so it doesn’t interfere with the other audio files by
copying and pasting, and then add a Fade In transition between the end of the
main, “talking” file and your new music file using the Effect Fade in button.
