ACCOUNTING PARAPROFESSIONAL
Do you plan on transferring to a four-year institution and majoring in
accounting or business? If so, the Accounting Paraprofessional
program should be your choice. It is a pre CPA/CMA track that is
articulated with designated four-year institutions to facilitate your goal
of a Bachelor’s degree. Upon graduation, you will be able to
distinguish, analyze, record, summarize, communicate and interpret
business transactions.
You will complete general education core requirements and
accounting specialty courses. You will study professional and ethical
behavioral case studies for business, as well as oral and written
communication throughout the program. You will master technical
courses in computerized accounting allowing you to seek advanced
level placement as paraprofessionals in accounting firms or other
business in the community.
A program chairperson, a program counselor and experienced faculty
are available to assist you with educational and career planning and
the articulation with the four-year institution.
Graduates of the Accounting Paraprofessional program are employed
in commercial business, government, non-profit and public
accounting firms.
Program Entry Requirements
Complete an application, satisfy the assessment requirement and
attend any required information/registration session. Students start
any term.
Graduation Requirements
To earn an Accounting paraprofessional AS degree, a student must
complete the standard core requirements for the degree plus the
Accounting paraprofessional required courses and maintain a 2.0
grade point average. A grade of C or better is required in all ACCT
course work.
