2004 Annual County Profile Lee Executive Summary As of 2003, Lee County’s largest private industry was Manufacturing, representing 25.78 percent (4,197) of the county’s total covered employment of 16,278. Over 25 percent of this sector’s employment is in the Food Manufacturing industry. Although the county’s total employment decreased by 2.19 percent since 2002, the average annual wage increased by 5.75 percent to $29,418 for all industries. Lee County’s average weekly wage for all industries was $566 for 2003. This was an increase of 5.79 percent since 2002. The highest average weekly wage for a sector was in Transportation & Utilities, averaging $714 with gross total wages of $21.2 million. Between 2002 and 2003, the Professional & Business Services sector had the largest percentage increase in average weekly wage of 11.02 percent ($39).
