Executive Summary As of 2003, Clayton County’s largest private industry was Trade, representing 16.86 percent (1,079) of the county’s total covered employment of 6,400. Although the county’s total employment decreased by 2.42 percent since 2002, the average annual wage increased by 1.36 percent to $24,554 for all industries. Employment in the Natural Resources & Mining sector showed the largest percentage increase, 8.44 percent (13 employees) from 2002 to 2003. Clayton County’s average weekly wage for all industries was $472 for 2003. This was an increase of 1.29 percent since 2002.
