2004 Annual County Profile Clay Executive Summary As of 2003, Clay County’s largest private sector was Trade, representing 23.67 percent (2,200) of the county’s total covered employment of 9,294. Over 75 percent of the employment in this sector was in the Retail Trade industry. The county’s total employment increased by 0.23 percent since 2002 and the average annual wage increased by 4.30 percent to $26,912 for all industries. Clay County’s average weekly wage for all industries was $518 for 2003. This was an increase of 4.44 percent since 2002. The highest average weekly wage for a private sector was Manufacturing, averaging $681 with gross total wages of $51.6 million. Ag/Natural Resources & Mining had the largest percentage increase in average weekly wage of 25.16 percent ($119) since 2002.
