Party Platform Explanation

Platform Planks - Write a brief (several sentences) explanation of each of the planks. of your party's platform. Include details of your plan and

provide an explanation of why you feel the way that you do about this issue.

1. Our view on abortion is that the states' governments should have a right to determine if abortions are legal

in their respective states. The national government will be undeclared on the matter but states will have the

ability to choose if they follow the pro-choice or pro-life standpoint. This should lower tension in the

national government over such a controversial issue and instead leave it up to the people to decide what they

want and in turn let the national government to focus on more important issues. What we will mandate

though is that all states must allow abortions in the first trimester or if the pregnancy was caused by forms of

sexual abuse and such.

2. The states will be forced to credit all marriages regardless of the parties involved to prevent

discrimination. Since not all people agree with gay rights, each state will have to power to choose whether or

not they are willing to perform marriage ceremonies for gay couples. This way the gay couples cannot say

that they are having their constitutional rights violated and at the same time if a state wishes to be against

gay right, then they can opt not to marry the couples. Even if they opt not to perform a wedding ceremony,

the couples will still gain all benefits of marriage though and will be treated just as equally.

3. Healthcare is an important factor in government and cannot be taken away completely. The government

should offer it, but the extensive benefits of healthcare should not be given away freely. If a person wishes to

have good healthcare they must out and spend their money instead of relying on an intrusive government to

baby them. In the case of fatal or major injuries, immediate care can be offered regardless of money or

healthcare plans, but unnecessary care will not be covered unless the people purchase their own healthcare.

4. Illegal drugs are an important factor to the United State's society and economy. To start, we believe

marijuana should be legalized, not only for medical but also recreational uses. There are many reasons for

this and one of the biggest is money. The war on drugs spends billions of dollars and yet no matter how

much they increase efforts against drug use, the rate is still rising. The drug will be regulated to an

extent but will be still able to be sold in stores. The purpose of this is it will cut back on the amount

of

money spent fighting it as well as increase tax revenue. The drug also has many medicinal purposes as a

herbal remedy. Finally, if legalized, people will no longer have to worry about careers and lives ruined if

caught with possession. Driving while under the influence of it will be illegal. We also believe the drinking

age should be lowered to 18 though those under 21 will not be able to drink in public areas like bars. Also,

instead of a .08 BAC driving limit, those under 21 will have it reduced to .05 to be safer. This will also save

countless people from under ages as alcohol is commonly consumed whether it is illegal to do or not.

Finally, we believe some of the "softer" drugs like MDMA and psychedelic mushrooms should have their

penalties lowered or have the ban lowered as these are also commonly abused whether the drug is legal or

not. People who are not likely to drug if it is illegal are still not likely to use them at all and it is proven to

be

effective when lowering these penalties to actually cause more awareness and responsibility in other

countries such as the Netherlands. These drugs also have many medicinal and therapeutic uses and

legalization would allow further and easier research by private companies.

5. When it comes to business, we believe in less government interference and more free enterprise. This

would involve the appealing of some anti-trust laws but businesses would still have to maintain territories

and such. Small businesses would still have the ability to prosper though as we would not allow complete

monopolies. By doing this, we would hope our economy will easily fix itself. We would also allow trade

overseas without large taxes and tariffs. We would make it so the government doesn't mandate large and

unfair taxes to those larger businesses nor smaller ones as we feel all people should have equal opportunity

in our economy. The government would also not be in charge of mandating certain health benefits and

packages. The less government interference, the better.

6. We believe in fair taxation. It seems unfair that the people who work well and move up in the world

should be forced to pay the most money to a government that favors helping the lower classes. They

should be taxed more than the lower since they have more to give but not at these ridiculous amounts.

The taxation needs to be linear instead of grouped into large categories that hurt more then they help. By

using a linear system of taxation, everyone will pay a fair amount based on their income. This will

decrease the amount of unrest caused y taxation as well as not causing discrimination for those who

make more or less money. We would also ho e this would save some classes such as the upper-middle

class from being hit the hardest as in the current system they may lose all the tax benefits of the upper

and lower classes but still have the negatives.

7. Welfare is the last plank of our platform that we feel needs touched on. To start, many people take

advantage of welfare and some even cause fraud. This takes away from those who actually do need it.

We feel by making the ability to get welfare harder and the requirements to keeping welfare harder in

many cases, it will cause the program to be much better. To start, people under the age of 55 should have

to show proof they are still currently looking for a job if they plan to stay on unemployment. This will

cause more intuitive to search for and find a job, which not only saves the government money but also

will increase the economy and job rate around the country. Also to be available to receive many forms of

welfare, we feel you must take a regular drug test for illegal narcotics. If you are found to be using these

drugs, you will have a small period of time to sober and must pass all further drugs tests. This will prove

you are not just using your benefits for the purpose of feeding an addiction or that this money is going to

other things besides what it is intended to.
