Small- and Large-Scaled Trends and Heterogeneity in Sampled Areas

The notion ,,heterogeneity" plays a fundamental role in such fields where spatial pro-
cesses are dealt with. The relativity of the term “heterogeneity” will be discussed.
Different approaches are demonstrated: the small- and the large-scaled approach
each as well as a local as an average property. Visualization methods support the
interpretation. The use of the methods is demonstrated by means of uniformity trials.
